It has a few "test pieces" on it—problems that were right at my limit back then. Today, I finally cleared one of them. I hadn't used the board for a long time, but I started training on it again as a benchmark for my recovery from an injury. It took about two months of effort to succeed. It started at a peak in March, when I finally completed a project four years in the making—experiencing one of the greatest climbs of my life. However, after returning to Kanagawa, it felt like my luck took a turn for the worse. It began with a torn calf muscle, followed by a major setback in August: a torn rotator cuff. It was a serious injury that threatened my entire climbing career. Fortunately, I was able to receive the best medical care possible. The surgery was a success, but the long road of rehabilitation that followed was physically and mentally exhausting. But things changed about three months post-surgery. My recovery accelerated remarkably, and I’m now back to doing some light climbing. While I’m still far from a full recovery—I can’t hang by one arm yet—I’m so happy that I could return to the wall before the end of the year. Even if I’m limited to easier lines next year, I’m determined to get back out to the crags. Thank you for everything this year. I look forward to working with you (or seeing you) again in the next. 今年は本当に色々あった。 発見から四年越しのプロジェクトを3月に完成させ人生最高の登りの一つを体験したのを頂点に、神奈川に帰ってきてからは坂道を転がるように不運が続いた。それは脹脛の肉離れから始まり、8月には肩鍵盤の断裂というキャリアの存続にも関わる大きな怪我をしてしまった。 幸いにも最善の医療を受ける事が出来、手術は成功したものの、それから長く続くリハビリ生活には心身共に疲弊した。 しかし、術後3ヶ月を過ぎた辺りから飛躍的に回復し、現在は軽くながら登る事が出来るようになった。 まだ片腕でぶら下がる事が出来ないなど、完治までには程遠い感じだが、今年中にまた壁に帰って来れたのは嬉しかった。 来年は易しいラインしか登れないとしても、また岩場に帰りたいと思う。 今年もお世話になりました。 来年も宜しくお願いいたします。2025/12/31に公開- 指定なし4.56%1,7037I had my 3-month post-op MRI, and everything looks great. This year, however, after returning to Yokohama, I first suffered a calf tear, and now, to top it all off, I've injured my shoulder. I had been feeling that with age, my body's ability to recover was diminishing. I knew I needed more rest. But for a long time, I've been afraid to rest. I was anxious that even just two days off would make me lose my strength. At some point, climbing may have become a way to maintain my peace of mind rather than a truly effective and efficient training method. That might have been okay when I was young, but aging was definitely changing my body. I think there were things I needed to change along with that physical change. When I think about the long rehabilitation and the time I won't be able to climb after the surgery, I realize that given my age, I probably won't be able to return to my previous level. A thought even crossed my mind that I might have to quit climbing altogether. I was so filled with anxiety and a sense of loss that I even questioned the point of getting treatment. I agonized over it a lot. Now, however, thanks to the encouragement and support from the people around me, I'm feeling a bit more positive. I turned 49 yesterday. The next year will probably be tough, but I'm going to work hard with the mindset that my second climbing life will begin when I turn 50.2025/08/24に公開- 指定なし9.79%3,568104これから先、長い間登る事が出来なくなってしまいました。 少しの不注意と長年の無理が祟って肩を壊してしまいました。 精密に検査したところ手術を受けるしかないとの事です。 35年間クライミングを続けてきて初めての大きな怪我に戸惑い落ち込んでいます。 思えば、クライミングを初めてから2週間以上続けて休んだ事が無く、35年間ずっと登り続けてきました。 開拓をメインに活動を初めてからは、シーズン中は山に籠り、登る日以外は岩探しか整備作業と休みなく、オフシーズン中は横浜に戻りジムでのトレーニングと、自分でもよく身体が壊れないなと思う日々を何年も続けてきました。 それが今年に入り、横浜に戻ってから足の肉離れに始まり、そしてトドメに肩を壊してしまいました。 自分の中では老いなのか回復する力が無くなってきているのを感じてはいました。 もっと休養が必要なのはわかってはいました。 だけどもうずっと前から休む事を恐れるようになっていました。 たった２日休んだだけでも、登る力が落ちてしまうのではないかと不安になっていました。 いつからか、有効で効率的なトレーニングよりも心の平安を保つ為の運動になっていたのかもしれません。 若い時はそれでも良かったのかもしれません、 でも年齢の積み重ねは確実に身体を変えていました。 その変化と共に変えねばならない事があったのだと思います。 手術からの長期のリハビリと登れない期間を考えた時に、年齢的にももう以前のレベルには戻れないのだと思いました。 ふと、クライミング自体を辞める事になるのではないかとも思いました。 不安と喪失感から治療する事の意味にも疑問を感じました。 沢山悩みました。 そして、今は僕の周りにいる人達からの励ましと協力で少し前向きになっています。 昨日49歳になりました。 これから一年は辛い年になりそうだけど、50歳になった時に第二のクライミング人生が始まるつもりで頑張っていこうと思います。2025/08/24に公開- 指定なし9.05%3,33558昨日は都内に出てThe tribeでユカさんとトークショーでした。 謎におしゃれで格式高いアウェイ感満載の会場と初めての 形式のトークに緊張し、得意の毒舌も封じられた僕は終始ぎこちなく上手く喋れないまま終わってしまいました。 来て頂いたみなさんすみません。。 個人的にはユカさんの山時代の話が興味深かった。 やっぱりあの人はヒトを模した何かなのだと再認識した。 Yesterday, I was in Tokyo for a talk show with Yuka-san at The Tribe. The venue was super stylish, and I felt completely out of my element. It was my first time doing a talk show like that, and I was so nervous that I couldn't even manage my usual sharp-tongued humor. I was awkward the whole time and didn't speak well. I'm so sorry to everyone who came. On a personal note, Yuka-san's stories about her time in the mountains were fascinating. It was a close call for me." ツアーを終えて横浜に帰ってきました。 今回も沢山の課題を初登しました。 ハードなものでは「陀羅尼」「怪気炎」「ビジュアライズ」といった課題を筆頭にその他良い課題を多く生み出せました。 その中でも今ツアー最大の目標であり、人生最高の課題の一本となった日之影のプロジェクトを登れた事は大きな成果だったと思います。 まだ僕のSNS上では名前も動画も出していなかったのですが、発表しておきます。 登れた時は上部で想定外の指先の悴みとパンプに襲われました。 上部では下手をするとマット外に落ちる為に非常に恐ろしかった。一手一手ギリギリで慎重に登りました。 そして、課題名は「モノリス」と命名しました。 SF好きな人ならばすぐにピンと来るであろう、あのモノリスからです。 この課題が未来永劫存在しますように、そしてこの先この岩に触れた未来のクライマーがどう感じるのか、課題という形で封じたメッセージがどう伝わるのか、なかなか良い名前だと思いませんか？2025/04/10に公開- 指定なし5.48%2,03818I found a great rock. Encountering this rock feels fateful. I completed my biggest goal this season and felt a little empty. After that, I walked around and found some good lines and completed them, but there was no surprising discovery from the bottom of my heart. The number of days left, and I had half-given up that I had not found a new goal this term. At that time, it was in the place where I suddenly walked. It was a rock with a large bulging wall from a huge roof that lasted about 7 meters. At that time, I didn't have a rope, so I couldn't take a closer look at the top. The next day, I went out with a rope and scouted the upper part. I came down from the rock with a feeling of praying that Hold would exist. And there was a hold. Miraculously, it continued to the lip. I was delighted by myself. It's about 10 meters from the roof to the lip, which is one of the best rock lines I've ever found. I don't have time to try this line anymore this term, but I have a big goal for the future. My motivation for climbing is to find new rocks and first ascent my ideal line. The discovery of this rock rekindled my passion. I want to train myself to climb this line, and I definitely want to come back next season. 凄い岩を発見した。 日之影で一つの大きな目標が終わり、歓喜と安堵と共に開いた心の穴は確かにあって、それを塞ごうと闇雲に歩き、新しい岩を探し登ったけれどそれはなかなか塞がる事は無かった。 今シーズンも終わりを迎え、ついぞ新しい目標は見つからなかったかと落胆していたところ、ふと思い付き歩いてみた所にそれはあった。 以前も歩いた場所、大きな岩の影に隠れるようにそれはあった。巨大なルーフから始まり、見上げるバルジがリップまで長々と繋がっている。とてつもない存在感。 ルーフ部分は基部から手の届くところまでは嬉しい事に絶妙にホールドが繋がっていた。 しかし、続くバルジ部分は下から見る限りでは一部ブランクがあるように見えた。 この日はロープが無かったので上部を見る事は叶わず、翌日ロープを手に岩場へ向かった。 そして、ホールドよあってくれと祈るような気持ちでラペルした。 果たして、ホールドはあった。 ブランクに見えた部分にも奇跡的にホールドが繋がり、ラインを完遂させていた。 私は一人歓喜した。 そして、ぽっかりと開いていた心の穴が塞がったのを感じた。 私のクライミングに対するモチベーションは、新しい岩を自分の足で歩き発見して、初登する事を源とする。 理想とする岩との出会いがあり、未登のラインがある限り、クライミング対する火は消えないだろう。 岩場から離れる間も鍛錬を欠かさず、このラインを登る為に必ずまたここに戻ってこようと思う。2025/04/06に公開- 指定なし4.3%1,59714A beautiful wall with an overhang of 135 degrees.
