It’s not only because I love nature 🥰 but because “sustaining” the planet in its current condition is clearly no longer enough, and I wanted to learn hands-on how we can regenerate our natural systems 🌏 Why yoga? You can’t care for our planet if you can’t care for your self 🫶🏽 yoga has been part of my life since my early teens, and it’s been one of the key ways I’ve managed the stresses of work and life and maintained some kind of balance. Barcelona boasts 28% public green space, and London an impressive 33%! In contrast, Tokyo only has a mere 7.5%! 😱 The ongoing redevelopment issue at Jingu Gaien includes the cutting of 1000 trees, many planted a century ago with the foresight to ensure a green haven in Tokyo for future generations. While cities like Paris have been prioritising planting trees as part of their climate mitigation strategies, Tokyo seems to be going in the opposite direction. Seems foolish, given that Tokyo's temperature has risen by 2.86°C since 1900 (almost three times the global average) 🌡️☀️ Will we continue to see development projects erasing public green spaces in Tokyo's future? It's a beautiful place that shall forever have a special place in my heart ❤️ But 2 years on, a new theme park is being built 😳and you can already see the changes - a new supermarket, a new convenience store. 2020年の夏☀️コロナで仕事がすべてリモートとなり、自然に囲まれた場所を探して避難したのが沖縄の今帰仁村でした。ここは海も美しく、ビーチから少し泳いで行けばサンゴ礁が広がる恵まれた場所です。海以外はほとんど何もないけど、それがまた魅力的！🪸🐡 Catching up with friends and other locals here, it's clear that they're torn - between wanting the people of Nakijin to prosper economically and wanting this beautiful place to remain as it is for future generations. That’s the power of a great exhibition, and I only hope to see more like this in Japan :) it’s on until 5/22 so do check it out if you can! 年末には一度訪ねてみたけど、時間も足りなかったので、明日またゆっくりみに行こうかと思います！（何回言っても新しい視点をもらえそう！） 詳細 http://www.2121designsight.jp/program/2121/2022/04/14に公開5.74%842先日、富士山の麓にある富士吉田で、豊かな自然とおいしいお水を軸に、サーキュラーデザインについて考えるワーケーション／ワークショップに協力させていただきました！Back from co-creating a workshop in the beautiful Fuji Yoshida, focused on circular design and inspired by the nature and Mount Fuji-filtered water in the town. コラボの機会をいただいたロフトワークと @hostelsaruya の八木さん、そして参加してくださった素敵な方々に感謝 ☺️ Thank you to @loftwork_com and @hostelsaruya for this chance to collaborate, and for the awesome people who joined! そしてちょうどプラスチック循環促進法が実施された前日に@hostelsaruya に一泊させてもらい、翌日はまた違う街の旅館に泊まることになったけど、使い捨て削減への配慮の違いについて大きなさを感じ他のでシェア。 @hostelsaruyaの場合は、色々な工夫をされてて（写真撮るのサボっちゃってないけど）、布の切れ端でできたふきんが使えるように置いてあったり、朝食の豆乳がガラス瓶に入って出てきたり、本当に無駄な使い捨てのない環境ですごく気持ちい時間を過ごさせていただきました🙏🏽☺️ その一方、翌日から２泊した旅館では、無駄ばっかりで。。。例えばタウルとシーツが毎日交換されるとか、毎日新しく置いてあった温泉タウルが一枚ずつビニール袋に包まれてて、しかも使い捨て歯ブラシもその都度一緒に梱包されてて（もちろん歯ブラシもビニール袋に入っています）、、使わなくても、きっと捨てられることになるし。。あーー これが「おもてなし」だと勘違いされ、全国でどれだけの無駄が発生してしまっているのか、、 今回施行された法律もこのためには絶対必要だけど、あまり知られてもいないような。。。さーどうなるのでしょう。。 I just happened to be travelling when the new disposable plastics law came into place here in Japan, and it was interesting to see the stark difference in how accommodations manage their contribution to waste. I was staying in a beautiful renovated old building at @hostelsaruya the night before the law came into place, where your stay is beautifully designed to not produce waste. E.g. fabric cut-offs around the hostel to use to clean up after yourself (instead of disposable wipes), no unneeded amenities, soy milk for breakfast given to you in a small glass bottle etc. On the other hand, the next 2 nights I stayed in a normal ryokan, and not only were the towels and bedding changed every night, but the small towels were wrapped in plastic bags, with a mandatory toothbrush (also in a bag) included every time!!
