As the season draws to a close, ski resorts across Hakuba Valley are approaching their final days. Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort will also be closing soon. Recently, visitors have been enjoying relaxed spring skiing and beautiful mountain views, while many riders have been making the most of the spring snow to practice and improve. With the softer spring weather, it’s also a great time for kids to enjoy the outdoors — from playing in snow huts to even spotting a wild serow if you’re lucky. Hakuba Norikura Onsen Snow Resort is scheduled to operate until March 31, but this may change depending on snow conditions as snowmelt continues. White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Ski Resort will close for the season this weekend (15 March). Skiing down the Lake Down Course towards the crystal-clear waters of Lake Aoki, the nostalgic chairlifts with their unmistakable presence, and the mellow moments spent at Cafe Capella — all part of what made this resort so special. A touch of spring is in the air in Hakuba Valley. Here’s a look at Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort. Located halfway up the slopes, “PARTY PEAK” is a limited-time spot where music and food come together. With a DJ booth and food & drink area, it’s a great place to stop by between runs. This time of year is also perfect for enjoying the terrain park and cruising the slopes while taking in the scenery. In contrast to last week’s warm weather, the past few mornings in Hakuba Valley have turned chilly again. This footage shows Kashimayari Snow Resort Family Park early yesterday morning (5 March). Guests could be seen gliding leisurely down the beautifully groomed slopes — a lovely start to the day. As we move into March, milder days are becoming more common in Hakuba, and the way we enjoy the slopes is gradually shifting with the season. Hakuba Cortina Ski Resort, a favorite among powder lovers, still offers plenty of great riding conditions. On warmer days, it’s just as wonderful to cruise gently down the slopes while taking in the beautiful mountain scenery — a relaxed way to enjoy this time of year. Stepping inside the home of the Hirabayashi family of salt merchants offers a glimpse into life at the time of the vital trade route’s Edo period (1603 – 1868) heyday.
