"Zuiba" is a lucky horse, which brings good fortune to those who walk faithfully and is said to lead them to new beginnings. This plaque will be exhibited at Inage Shrine in Kawasaki from tomorrow until the 8th, and will then be on display at Okadaya Mores in front of Kawasaki Station until the end of the month. This plaque is also being auctioned, with all proceeds going toward supporting the reconstruction of Noto. May this prayer inspire someone's hope. Banei horses move forward step by step, pulling heavy sleds with quiet strength. They are not fast, nor flashy— but they never stop. For two decades, Mr. Yamagishi has faced these horses with unwavering dedication, patiently capturing their power, dignity, and spirit. I hold the deepest respect for his perseverance and his sincere gaze toward his subjects. True horsepower is not about speed or spectacle, but about the strength to endure and continue. It was very impressive and made me happy to see them so intently trying to control the tip of the brush, even though it was their first time holding a brush. I realize how important it is to be able to experience Japanese culture together. And on a personal note, I just celebrated my 54th birthday. With each passing year, rather than thinking of something "special," I find myself appreciating even an ordinary day. Thank you for your favorite chocolate cake. "Hakuyoju" is a phrase that expresses the hope that life will be passed down like the oak leaf, and that longevity and prosperity will continue. It was written in cursive script, so it was probably difficult to read, but I hope that some people were able to sense something from the shape and atmosphere of the characters. I have lovingly written the names of all the members of the Tekibokukai inside the large byoshi drum. Even though it is a wooden entryway, carving characters into wood requires careful attention to every stroke, and I approached the task with sharpened nerves, in a tense atmosphere where no error is permitted. A plaque with "Aoi" written by Katsu Kaishu in the past and my own inscription of "Aoi" will be displayed in the Treasure Hall alongside the mikoshi. I am truly honored to be able to add a part of this, even with my humble calligraphy, to this venerable space where many mikoshi have been enshrined throughout the ages. It is a precious time for extremely busy members of the Diet to calm their minds and get themselves in order before heading to the Diet. I firmly believe that facing calligraphy sharpens the mind and has a positive effect on the judgment and actions of daily parliamentary activities. Representative Kazuhiro Haraguchi from Saga Prefecture is live streaming this calligraphy lesson on X (formerly Twitter), and although it is early in the morning, I hope that many people will watch it.
