Hiroka Yamashita is a painter born in 1991, Hyogo prefecture, JP. After she achieved MFA degree in Mason Gross School of the Arts, she currently lives and works in Oita. Her own unique representation of “ephemerality” depicted by combining traditional Japanese painting technique and western art historical context attracts people all over the world. We are going to donate the sales of those works to a non-profit organization that provides mental care and medical support to those affected by the spread of the coronavirus. In this work, along with the poetry, an image of wave is formed by the word “静止 stillness", which has various meanings such as the stillness of time and as well as the calmness of the mind. French－Brazilian artist duo living and working in Paris, Detanico Lain. As linguists and typographic designers, they incorporate their own language system into their work to develop into series of conceptual art. In 2007, they represented Brazil at the 52nd Venice Biennia l. Their work “Vermeer to Veronese” is collected by Conservation Center in Louvre-Lens and was inaugurated at the site in October, 2019.
