RePosted • @brooklynbattodo Practicing tameshigiri against hanging targets is a traditional method of training that’s difficult to do in a dojo. So when we find ourselves outdoors it’s a great opportunity to give it a try. Cutting a hanging target is a great way to test your technique, especially with smaller targets as seen here. Because the targets don’t have much mass, correct cutting technique is essential. “Hitting” the target simply won’t work, so precise hasuji (edge alignment) and full enkeisen (circular cutting trajectory) are essential. Chacun.e travaille pour devenir plus compétent.e, plus fort.e, plus capable, pour s’améliorer, (...), pour dépasser soi-même et ses limites encore et encore, et non pas en fonction des résultats des autres. RePosted • @hokushinittoryu The Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō demonstrated the first three of the 28 „ura naginatajutsu no kata“ at the Kōryūkai enbu in Cazzago San Martino, Italy. Those kata are part of the naginata-mokuroku, and are traditionally also practiced in yoroi (real samurai armor). This is because those kata are based on battlefield fighting, aiming for the weak spots of the yoroi. They derive from the Hokushin-ryū which was founded around the 1180s by Chiba Tsunetane. Hokushin-ryū is one of the direct ancestors of Hokushin Ittō-ryū Hyōhō. The whole katchū-bujutsu (armored fighting curriculum) of our ryūha has its roots in Hokushin-ryū. www.hokushinittoryu.com
