コンテンツ種別写真動画複数枚｢#PR｣つき投稿 関連投稿国 指定なし 関連都道府県 指定なし 並び替え投稿日順 ライク数順 コメント数順 エンゲージメント率順僕は食べることが大好き。 中国では100種類以上の地元の料理を食べて来ました。そして、その土地に根差した食文化を風土や歴史的観点からその成り立ちを知る事に興味があります。 そしてまた、その構造は焼物にも似ています。世界中に粘土があり、地球そのものが陶芸の材料になり、太古の昔、人間が火を発見してから世界中で同時多発的に焼物が作られました。 自動車は電気で走り、人類は宇宙へ飛び、AIが思考を始めた今も、焼物の手段は現代を生きる僕たちも「土を焼く」とその頃から全く変わらない事をしています。 話は少しそれましたが、閑話休題。 最近巷で話題の「まにまにラジオ」(@ashico_photo )。仕事中に聴いていて、いつも配信されるのを楽しみにしているのですが、そこで紹介されていた、現在、京都文化博物館で開催中の「和食展」に行って来ました。 もう、めっちゃお薦めです。 まさに僕の知りたかった和食の成り立ちについて、とても面白く学ぶ事ができます。直接、見て感じてほしいのでトピックだけご紹介しますね。同行した友人と「そっか！」「だからか！」と何度もうなずいて、膝を打ちました。 お雑煮問題もここで収束します。香川県の白味噌with 餡子入り丸餅は突然変異的マイノリティーだと判明しました。 和食は日本の土地の物理的な構造、海流や四季、そしてやはり茶の湯の中の懐石料理でほぼ現代の形に完成されています。量的には質素で、しつらえも大事にし、最低限の味付けで旬の素材の味を引き出す。これぞ日本が世界に誇る和食です。 昨年観たアリス・ウォーターズさんの映画、今取り組んでいる南大阪のガストロノミーのプロジェクトの参加、僕のワールドツアー、そして今回の和食展。 僕の陶芸の仕事と食文化。点と点が繋がって行きます。 ・ I love food. In China, I’ve tasted over 100 local dishes. But what fascinates me more is how each region’s cuisine is shaped by its land and history. This curiosity connects deeply with my pottery. Just like food, ceramics are born from the earth. Across the world, humans discovered fire—and began to fire clay. Even now, in an age of AI and space travel, we’re still simply “baking earth.” Recently, I visited the Washoku Exhibition in Kyoto after hearing about it on the Manimani Radio podcast. It was everything I hoped for—an inspiring deep dive into the roots of Japanese cuisine. Washoku, shaped by Japan’s geography, seasons, and tea culture, celebrates simplicity, balance, and respect for nature’s flavors. 訪れた中国の陶磁器のマーケットは、想像を遥かに超え、果てしなく巨大でした。 僕のうつわが届いているのは、そのほんの氷山の一角。僕の事なんて誰も知りません。 そこに並ぶのはほとんどが中国茶器。僕たちが大切にしてきた「土が」とか侘び寂び」や「器が育つ」などという文化は、まだまだこの場所では小さなマイノリティーです。 そして、「中国製品は…」と揶揄されますが、それもまた一つの側面にすぎず、僕が出会った人達は、確かな技術と創造力をもち、1000年の歴史を背負いながら、彼らもまた僕たちと同じ様に人生を生き抜こうと必死なのです。 今回、渾身のメガトンパンチで風穴を開けてやろうと意気込んできましたが、その小さな穴の向こうに広がっていたのは、果てしないユーラシアの大地。その広さに圧倒されながらも、まだまだやりたいことが山ほどあると、改めて思いました。 もっと働きたいと思います。 ・ I’ve returned home. After a long journey of endless travel, what quietly fills my heart now is a sense of true accomplishment. The ceramic markets I encountered in China were far beyond anything I had imagined — vast, immense, and seemingly without end. The pieces I’ve made have reached only a tiny corner of that world. No one there knows my name, and perhaps, for now, that’s how it should be. What filled those markets were mostly Chinese teaware. The culture we cherish — the feel of the clay, the quiet beauty of wabi-sabi, the idea that a vessel grows and changes with its owner — is still a quiet minority in this place. And though people may casually dismiss “Made in China,” that, too, is only one side of the story. The artisans I met were people of extraordinary skill and creativity, carrying a thousand years of history on their shoulders, and like us, they are doing everything they can to live their lives with sincerity and pride. I came with the intention of throwing a megaton punch, to open a hole in this massive world. And through the small hole I managed to make, what I glimpsed was the vast, endless expanse of Eurasia. Though overwhelmed by its scale, I found myself strangely calm, quietly realizing how much more I still want to do, how far I have yet to go. I want to keep working. To keep creating. Have you ever seen a massive wheel turned by three muscular, shirtless, shaved-headed men? I had requested to see this, and they kindly took me there. They were working on parts of a huge jar that would eventually stand around five meters tall. Each joint has to be flattened perfectly to connect the pieces seamlessly. The craftsmen hold long wooden sticks to stabilize their bodies while working. Interestingly, unlike Japan or Korea, symmetry is highly valued in China. So after assembly, the entire surface is carefully shaved down to smooth out any joints. Layers of slip are repeatedly applied to hide any seams. Another fascinating thing is that Jingdezhen’s porcelain clay can be attached even after it has dried, meaning the assembly and foot trimming are done after complete drying. I believe this speaks to the incredible purity of the clay. Once fired, it turns an immaculate white, free from any specks of iron. Given how much is produced in this town alone, there must be an enormous clay quarry nearby. After shaping, as you’d expect in Jingdezhen, the surfaces are fully decorated — painted with cobalt blue or carved in relief. Each stage has its own specialist artisan with finely honed skills. Sadly, the musclemen on the wheel weren’t working that day, so I didn’t get to meet them.
