I still remember the day I first held you in my arms 13 years ago, as clearly as if it were yesterday. Thank you for every moment of happiness you’ve brought into my life since then. It’s been six years since your cancer diagnosis. When the standard treatments didn’t work well for your body, I was scared. I worried constantly and wondered if I was making the right choices. But through it all, you showed me just how strong and brave you are. You have fought so hard. I am endlessly proud of you. And more than anything, thank you. As you’ve grown older, there have been harder days. New challenges. New health issues. My greatest wish now is simple: That your days are gentle. Comfortable. Peaceful. JJ, are you happy? I hope you know how deeply loved you are. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for choosing us to be your family. No amount of gratitude could ever be enough for everything you’ve given me.
