This massive sculpture is made of stainless steel newly produced by a factory in China, scale of 4m height. Sorayama’s “Space Traveler” presents a virtual story of the future that transcends human physicality. Through Sorayama’s work, we imagine a world after the human, a being that is human but not human. The work intertwines themes such as what is intelligence, what is the body, and what is time, naturally stimulating our imagination and creativity. Alternatively, it could be interpreted as raising questions such as whether our technology will be able to overcome the limits of the human body and bring about eternal life, and whether we will see a future in which artificial intelligence coexists with humans.
