On 7 March, the Hong Kong Academy of Ballet was honored to host ballet masterclasses with Mark Annear, a freelance senior dance education consultant and former Director of Training and Access at the Royal Ballet School in London. Mr Annear’s personalized approach and extensive expertise inspired students in classical ballet techniques. The three inspiring classes featured a morning ballet masterclass, where Mr Annear provided local dancers with an invaluable opportunity to learn and grow. In the afternoon, exclusive masterclasses tailored for Academy students aged 10 and above ensured that these young dancers could refine their skills and artistry, making the experience both enriching and memorable. A million thanks to Mr Annear for visiting HK to share his exceptional guidance that inspires our ballet community. 【Accessibility Fund 共融基金】 A huge thank you to Bloomberg for generously supporting the Accessibility Fund! Their meaningful contribution helps provide free ballet tickets to people from all walks of life. On 19 October, participants from three community organisations joined the Romeo + Juliet pre-performance talk and stage performance. The 67 attendees from the Christian Family Service Centre, SAGE Chan Dang Centre for Active Ageing, and Yan Chai Hospital Ng Wong Yee Man Neighbourhood Elderly Centre included seniors and individuals with special needs. Everyone enjoyed the engaging experience and gained a deeper understanding of this classic tale of star-crossed lovers, reimagined in 1960s Hong Kong. Every HK$1,500 donation enables three deserving community members to experience an inspiring performance for free.
