James Beard Award-winning Chef Marc Vetri— pasta phenom and culinary wonder behind Philadelphia’s revered Vetri Cucina and our very own Mr. Maurice’s Italian — is Kyoto-bound for a one-night only cooking collab with cenci’s Chef Ken Sakamoto. Chef Marc came up in the longstanding tradition of red sauce joints that imbue Philly with generational flavor and reverence for the familiarity of family — the kind of cooking perfected by a healthy pinch of precision and intuition alike. In Bergamo, Italy, he honed his kitchen craft, learning from the masters of classic Italian cookery. In 1998, he opened the James Beard Award-winning Vetri Cucina. At Mr. Maurice’s alongside the lauded Chef Ken, who cut his teeth at Kyoto’s Il Pappalardo and IL GHIOTTONE prior to opening Kyoto’s Michelin-starred cenci in 2014, the gastronomic geniuses team up for a legendary multi-course night of collaborative Italian cuisine.
