🕳️ traxでの個展は、今週末の1月25日(土)26日(日)11:00-17:00の二日間で終わります是非今しか見られない作品と空間を見に来てくださいお待ちしてます🧌 "Magic Lantern Phase" at gallery trax @gallery_trax photo by Shusaku Yoshikawa @shusaku_yoshikawa 初期の映画とも呼ばれる視覚メディアの一つに、幻燈と呼ばれる映写装置があります。それはガラス板に描かれた画像を光によって映し出す、いまでいうスライドプロジェクターのようなもので、そこにいるはずのない幽霊や亡霊、骸骨を幻影として映し出すことで、不思議な見世物として人気を博していたそうです。幻燈が英語で"魔法のランタン"とよばれるように、その当時はそういった視覚メディアは魔術的な装置でした。現代、あらゆる物事をモニター越しに見る私たちの視覚は、その魔術の中に封じ込められており、自然現象に対する認識すらも「作られた光」によって生み出されています。そういう時代的な視覚認識において、イメージの生成/破壊を同時におこなうドローイングという行為は、その魔術の根源に触れる唯一の方法なのではないかと考えています。(BIEN)

Thanks @9chan_kiuchi @laidbug_tyo @edwineurope 🔥 ---------- LAID BUG @laidbug_tyo Exhibition “INTANGIBILITY” NOV.1st-15th at HVW8 (Berlin🇩🇪) @hvw8gallery Powered by EDWIN EUROPE @edwineurope Starting November 1, 2024, LAID BUG will curate a group exhibition titled "INTANGIBILITY" at the HVW8 Gallery in Berlin. This exhibition is the result of a five-year-long friendship between LAID BUG, a gallery and creative studio based in Tokyo, and EDWIN EUROPE, an apparel label with Japanese roots that has evolved in its way in Europe. The participating artists in this exhibition provided artwork for the capsule collection by EDWIN EUROPE and LAID BUG for the 2024 S/S season. The artists include BIEN @bien_jap , Nico Ito @nicooos_n , Yushi Arimura @eastchinarecords , and Yusuke Isao @sumioxmondo . Also included are Toshifumi Kiuchi @9chan_kiuchi , the director of LAID BUG, who has long provided graphics for EDWIN EUROPE, as well as Hikaru Takata @hikarumono and Yutaro Ishikawa @yutaroishi , both of whom have held multiple exhibitions at LAID BUG, making a total of seven artists. This exhibition introduces Japanese artists who contribute unique perspectives through various styles and mediums, including photography, graphics, painting, and mixed media techniques. It attempts to dispel stereotypical images of Japan, providing an opportunity to reacknowledge the diversity of Japanese art and culture. Additionally, a zine commemorating LAID BUG's 6th anniversary will be released, as well as apparel products featuring artwork by EDWIN EUROPE and LAID BUG from the artists participating in this exhibition. We are delighted to hold this group exhibition at HVW8, which has continued to inspire us for many years. We’re excited for many to experience this exhibition.

A large work of art is on display along with the remains of the building, recalling that view, which cannot be seen nowadays. This is a large painting, a kind of architecture. 🪄 パリで制作したリトグラフの展示をしますプリントですが、全てオリジナルです。良い作品ができました。 8月31日(土)からです、是非お越しください！そこにある魔法：The Magic that exists around there 2024.8.31 sat. – 2024.9.22 sun. Open:13:00-19:00 Thu-Sun Closed on Mon, Tue, and Wed at @islandjapan ---------- 2024年の5月、約1ヶ月間パリにあるLe garage litho(@le_garage_litho)というリトグラフのプリントスタジオでセルフ滞在制作のようなものをさせてもらった。日本人の女性とフランス人の男性夫婦が運営しているそのスタジオとの出会いは2023年だった。仲の良いフランス人アーティストがそのスタジオで作品制作をしていたことをきっかけに、彼ら夫婦が日本を訪れた際に、僕のスタジオに来てくれたのだ。その時にパリに行けばリトグラフ作品を制作できると聞き、それを頼って今年の5月にパリを訪れた。リトグラフは簡単にいうと、石灰石でできた石板に油性の画材で描画し、それを薬品によって製版し、石板に水分と油性のインクをのせてプレス機にかけることで、水と油の反発する性質を利用してプリントを作る、化学的な版画である。石の上では描画時点からミクロの単位で化学的な反応が起きており、プリント毎に変わっていくその表情をプリント技師と共に調整していく。約1ヶ月間、毎日のように朝から深夜まで、二人三脚ならぬ三人四脚でプリントを制作し、最終的に僕らはおよそ80枚のオリジナルプリント作品を制作した。はじめて触れるその技術は、とても刺激的で、自分の望んでいた表現でもあった。ドローイングというものは、線を描くということは、人類がイメージを形に表す行為のはじまりであり、根源的なものだと考えている。それを描く際には、線自体を際立たせるような意図的な下地を作る必要はない。それでなければ、ドローイングに含まれる意思とは別の、自然に生まれる現象と向き合えるような状況があれば良いと考えていた。そうして出会ったのがリトグラフであった。石板に描画した際のインクの反応はとても現象的で、それとの共同作業は非常に面白く、また石板の上にのったインクは、プレス機からでてくるまで、紙にどう反映されるかがはっきりとわからない。僕が今回使っている技法は伝統的なリトグラフのプリント方式からは逸脱する方法であり、毎回が実験のような制作現場であった。そのような、自らではコントロールしきれない現象を作品に生かしたことで、同じ版でもすべてのプリントの表情が違う、版画作品でありながらそれぞれがオリジナルとなる、モノタイプと呼ばれる作品群が完成した。ドローイングの周りにある色たちが、石板のうえで起きたこの世界の自然の現象のようなものだとしたら、それを避けるようにして見えてくるドローイングは、人類が獲得したイメージという他にないパラレルなもう一つの世界である。それは、どこにでもある魔法のようなものだ。 #art#contemporaryart#drawing#lithograph

The exhibition features "Day for Night" created in 2019.
