As represented by his brushstroke (smudge) technique, Cobayashi has consistently produced works with daring digital processing. On the other hand, after moving his base of operations from Tokyo to Shonan, he has been pursuing the relationship between digital expression and the "body" in parallel. In "Reflex," based on photographs of Ginza landscapes, such as building facades, he has incorporated circles and linear figures, in addition to strokes, in his new attempts to process them. The work creates a "mirror world" unique to Ginza, which is abstracted but does not lose the city's unique character and temperature.
