He was 91 years old and passed away due to old age. The funeral and memorial service were held solemnly with only close relatives in attendance, and we were able to send him off safely. I am relieved that we were able to follow the proper order. Today, in contrast, is my friend's wedding. Leaving only smiles behind. Even in his final moments, it is a glorious day. As a result, once I hit 60, various parts of my body began to give out in pain. One of the most common problems is sciatica, which is caused by spinal stenosis due to spondylolisthesis. When a misaligned lumbar vertebrae presses on the spinal canal through which the nerves pass, even standing upright for just three minutes can cause pain and numbness in the buttocks, forcing the horse to crouch down. They say that a horse is a good horse when it's safe, but unless it's built to be extremely strong, its body will begin to give out when it aims for the ultimate in performance. In the movie, there's a scene where William Oliver, who competed in the 1st World Karate Championship, is silently warming up. This scene stuck in my mind, and I became fascinated with this spring-loaded spinning back kick. It must have been about five years ago now... During my morning practice at the park, I remembered Oliver's movements and tried to do them again (lol). Oliver passed away without me ever meeting him. However, even if it's a self-defense technique, in this peaceful Japan, the chances of you being hit in the face or being hit yourself are really one in ten thousand, so when it comes to taking up this as a competitive sport, many people are okay with hitting but dislike being hit (wry smile). Magician Hayato, who joined in as a friend, performed an incredible magic trick that had everyone in attendance gaping with their mouths hanging open. In my home city of Osaka, many fans and fellow members gathered, and the venue, Umeda Club Quattro, was sold out. The enthusiastic live show came to a successful close. Nagoya ROUND was held as a special event to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Hana no Keiji serialization, with special sponsorship from Newgin Group and Coamix (the copyright holders of Hana no Keiji). As a special thanks, we were able to perform a Keiji song accompanied by a live performance by Omori Takashi's band, a song that we won't be performing at any other venue. In particular, my duet with Anna Yoko, "Namida Sakura," is a song that I previously sang with Asaka Yui. Asaka Yui was performing live at billboard LIVE Osaka, so of course I went. Even though it's her 40th anniversary since her debut, Asaka Yui looks exactly the same as she did back then. The next day, I paid my respects at the grave of blue-eyed samurai Andy Hug, who rests at Daitokuji Temple's Hoshun-in Temple. It's been 25 years since he passed away. I remember that hot summer day like it was yesterday. A swallowtail butterfly was flying around me as I prayed, and followed me all the way to the main gate of Daitokuji Temple. The two-hour performance ended in a flash amidst the excitement. We started booking the venue at the end of last year, and from there, we also worked on the music, which took a lot of time and preparation, but once it started, time flew by. When it was over I felt a pleasant, yet empty feeling of fatigue. I was ready for the remaining two stages. I had a complicated mix of feelings: the desire to do two more rounds and the refusal to feel burned out once it was all over. Next up was the Hakata round, which was our first time here. I wonder how many people have been able to make as many dreams come true as I have... As a child, a timid boy who was bullied and left out by his friends began to yearn for strength. A high school student admired Willie Williams, the karate superhuman who is said to have defeated a bear, and sat upright in front of the TV watching his world champion martial arts match against Antonio Inoki. 15 years after taking up karate, I fought Willie, and another six years later, I faced Antonio Inoki in the ring. I was a big fan of Southern All Stars, who debuted when I was 17 and had just started karate, and 20 years later, that dream led to me dreaming of being pulled onto their stage. And now I'm enjoying my musical career with former Southern member Omori Takashi's band, and through that connection, I was able to get Ryudo Uzaki of the Downtown Boogie Woogie Band, who I loved since I was in middle school, to write a song for me... I've loved baseball since I was a child, and my dad's conversations were always about Oh hit a home run! Nagashima hit a home run! 😊 When I was in middle school, I finally joined the baseball team, but contrary to my expectations, my baseball skills weren't that great, so I was a perennial substitute in center field. The only time I played in the Nara Prefectural Tournament before graduating, I stood on first base with a runner on base, but I was quickly called out by a pickoff throw. At that time, I'm sure the baseball gods were saying, Kadota-kun, this isn't the place for you to shine. The place where you can shine is surely somewhere else. Work hard there. But someday, somewhere, I'm sure I'll make your baseball dreams come true. That's what I think they were saying. Fifty years have passed since then. Despite my concerns that I might be booed in front of a young audience that was 90% female, the moment I appeared on stage, I was greeted with a thunderous cheer that I had never heard in my fighting days.
