So grateful to see him again in NY. 芥川賞作家平野啓一郎さんとお茶🍵 ずいぶん前になりますが、FMラジオの企画で平野さんと俳優の中嶋朋子さんとリーディングイベントをご一緒しました。 ニューヨークでまたお会いできて嬉しいです @hiranok Nubluで、Kaz Kumagai trioのライブ。Impressions やFootprintsといったジャズのスタンダードから月の光まで、よく練られた構成の熱演でした。共演のAlex Blake、Toru Dodo両氏もすごかった！ 後日、Kazさんと久しぶりにランチを食べつつ、談笑。その後、バスキアのスタジオ跡にあるAtelier Jolieのカフェでコーヒー。一見、奥にカフェがあるとは気がつかない隠れ家的な場所。アンジェリーナ・ジョリーが今は同ビルのテナント。 Live at Nublu, Kaz Kumagai Trio. Alex Blake and Toru Dodo, who joined them, were phenomenal as well. A few days later, I had lunch with Kaz for the first time in a while and we caught up. After that, we stopped by the café at Atelier Jolie, located in what used to be Basquiat’s studio. It’s a hidden gem—you wouldn’t even notice there’s a café tucked away in the back. And the professor showed us this Iranian film “The Children of Heaven," and this movie became one of my all time favorite films. It is simply the most poetic and beautiful movie that really changed my perspectives toward the life of the middle eastern countries. Years later I watched the movie again with my daughter, and we wrote short column for a movie web magazine “PINTSCOPE”. I keep thinking about this film after coming to the U.S. and feeling emotional. If you have not watched this master piece, you would love it. There's no image of war or anything, but simple beautiful life.
