は2023年7月に開催したトランクショーの什器を検討する中で、「デッドストック未使用の仏壇」というこの美しい工芸を「ジュエリー用のキャビネット」に見立て、自分たちのよりどころとなる大切なジュエリーを収納する店内什器として使うアイデアを思いつきました。 仏壇は、いわば小さな寺院です。 何枚もの扉や、いくつもの装飾は、全て寺院に見立てたもの。 仏壇は「信仰の対象=本尊」を祀るための場所。 【OUTERSPACE Vol.1 -ヴィンテージ京仏壇-】 京仏壇とは？ 京仏壇（きょうぶつだん）は、京都府京都市や亀岡市周辺で作られている仏壇仏具。京仏壇は、家庭用としてではなく、そのほとんどは寺院用として納められています。 京仏壇の特徴は、ひとつひとつの工程が細かく分業されていることによる、職人たちの技術力の高さです。京仏壇ひとつをつくりあげるのに、約40もの職種の職人たちが携わると言います。 木地師、彫刻師、塗師、蝋色師、箔押し師、錺師、蒔絵師、採色師、組立師…… 仏壇は、伝統工芸に携わる職人たちの技術の集大成です。 このようにひとつひとつの作業を細かく分け、その作業に精通した職人たちが合わさって作り上げた京仏壇は、日本国内だけでなく海外からも高い評価を受けるほど。 また、こうして多くの職人が携わることによって、家庭用だけでなく、より大きな寺院用の仏壇づくりの基盤が既にできあがっていることが、寺院における京仏壇の割合が日本全国で高い由縁です。 🐦🔥 京仏壇の歴史 京都は、仏教文化の都として栄え、今でも数多くの歴史的な寺院が残る場所として知られています。 京都に仏具が伝来したのは、仏教伝来と同時期の6世紀頃（飛鳥時代）。 そして、実際に京都で仏具が作られるようになったのが8世紀頃（奈良時代から平安時代にかけて）。 11世紀（平安時代）に七条に仏工が集められたことで製作が本格化したと言われています。京仏壇の起源として示されるのは、だいたいが本格的に仏具の製作が行われたこの11世紀頃。 江戸時代になると、宗門改めというキリスト教を禁制するための仏教徒の調査によって、各家庭における仏壇の設置が進みます。仏壇の需要が高まったことで、京仏壇はさらに生産を拡大していきました。
