和紙の階段 @hatanowataru の 上に佇むのは真鍮の照明。 銀閣寺の近くで金工を手がける 中根嶺さんの作品です。 @ren_nakane 和紙の階段の上に吊るすペンダントライトの 制作をお願いした時の中根さんのコメントが印象的でした。 「和紙の面白さは一枚一枚の表情はもちろんですが、和紙貼りでその一枚一枚が連なったときに重なっている部分に生まれる表情に魅力を感じます。 そこから真鍮の薄いパネル(テクスチャを入れたもの)を何枚か重ね組み合わせて円筒形にしてみてはと考えました」 和紙の「白」と真鍮の「金」を 対比したいという私達のリクエストに 素晴らしい答えを出してくださった中根さん、本当にありがとうございました！ 「白」と「金」はKYO AMAHAREを 象徴する色の組み合わせ。 それをこの空間で実現してくださった KYO AMAHAREのお庭は 「景色盆栽作家」小林健二さんに 監修を依頼し施工は京都の庭師の 廣瀬さんにご担当いただきました。 2年以上放置されていた中庭は 草木が伸びきっていましたが 剪定したり間引くことで 見えてきたのは110年前にしつらえられた石や草木の配置。 それらがあまりにも素晴らしかったので 当時の姿に想いを馳せながら復元し、 小林さんらしく苔や砂利などで化粧をしていただきました。 内見時にあった通り庭の天井を 取り払うことであらわれたのは 110年前の町家の記憶。 町家の最上部まで連なる 品のよい梁が姿をあらわし、 自然光も差し込むようになりました。 蘇った町家の光と共に通り庭を優しく照らすのは おおやぶみよさん の「Memory」。 「記憶の重なり」をコンセプトに制作されている みよさん @miyooyabu の代表作です。 0年の和紙の階段の先に見えるのは 110年前の和紙の壁。 階段の和紙は壁の色にあわせて グレーの和紙を張った上から生成りの和紙を張ったもの。 使いこむうちに段々下のグレーが 透けてきて壁の色に近づいていくと ハタノさん @hatanowataru に教えていただきました。 和紙は800年前の漉き方と同じ方法で 制作してくださいました。 110年後にこの階段がどのように変化しているのかを @hatanowataru KYOの名前もまだ決まっていない時から空間の中でハタノさんに和紙を貼っていただきたいと思っていました。 ハタノさんが「京都綾部」でモノづくりをされているのも理由のひとつですが、 全国的に減少傾向にある和紙の消費量を増やしたいという思いから工芸は勿論のことアートそして内装施工まで和紙で手がけていることを綾部の工房で伺ったからです。 計画段階では2階の床一面を和紙にする案や1階の4畳半をグルリと和紙巻きにするなどを検討していましたが、なんとなくしっくりこないまま解体作業が始まりました。 解体もいよいよ佳境となった時に施工担当の清水さん @ki_ya_koji から「いい壁が出たから、解体を止めています！」と連絡がありました。 2階の押入れの板を剥がした裏からでてきたのは110年前に貼られた一面和紙の壁。 これはすごいものが出てきたと思い、ハタノさんに110年前の和紙の前にハタノさんの和紙の階段をつくりたい旨をお伝えしました。 問題だったのは、この階段を土足で歩く必要があったこと。 恐る恐るその点についてハタノさんに伺うと 「110年前の和紙の壁と0年の和紙の階段が最初は対比されているけど、 0年の和紙が時間の経過と共に110年の壁に近づいていくというコンセプトで進めればよいのでは？」 と目から鱗のご提案をいただきました。 「和紙は破れたら上から張って補修もできるし！」 と伺えたのも心強かったです。 ハタノさんはこちらの要望に対していつも前向きに考えてくださって、クリエイティブな答えを出してくださるので一緒にお仕事をしていて本当に楽しいです！ そうして生まれた和紙の階段は KYO AMAHAREを象徴するものになりました。 昨日開催した「とんがりサンタの日 2023」。 KYO AMAHARE @kyo_amahare にも沢山の方にお越しいただきありがとうございました！ 昨日の朝、下尾和彦さん、さおりさんから「とんがりサンタ」への想いを伺いました。 印象的だったのは一体一体が自分の子供のように可愛いというお話やとんがりサンタに命が吹き込まれる瞬間の話。 彫ったり、色を塗ったりするのは下尾さおりさんを中心とした @tongarisanta.ltd のみなさんで1年かけて制作を進め、最後に目を入れるのは全て下尾和彦さんがされているそうです🤶🏻 さおりさんが寝ている間に和彦さんが目をいれて 朝起きるとサンタに命が宿って、更に愛らしい表情に🎅🏻 お二人の優しいお気持ちに感銘を受けると共に大切な作品をKYOでお取り扱いさせていただける喜びを感じています。 点数制限にご協力いただきましたおかげでKYO
