デニムや工業製品(テントやカーシート)などの厚物から、レディース用のシフォンやジョーゼットまで、広く対応できる順応性を持っています。 ミシンメーカーから販売されているステッチ定規を、素材に合わせて全て取り揃える事ができれば、もしかしたら手作りアイデアアタッチメントは必要なくなるのかもしれません。 縫製工場には、1mサイズの竹定規が相当本数ストックされています。 実は1番多く使われている用途が…裁断場における作業補助の竹竿としての用途です。 生地の幅は1mを超えるものが多いので、生地を複数枚重ねる「延反」作業の際に使用されます。 作業時に作業者が片手に持って、生地全体をシワなく重ねていく時に、生地全体をやさしくたたいて慣らしたら、横に振りながらシワを取り除いていきます。 竹の軽さやしなやかさがあり、手に持って作業するのに握りやすい太さなので、裁断場の職人の間では、作業補助の必須アイテムとなったものだと思われます。 定規として使用する際には、軽く湾曲した年季が入った竹定規ほど、フラットな場所においても、そのカーブのおかげで掴みやすく、手でそっと押さえる事で長さが正確に測れる…と言った理由で、工場内ではいつも主役級の活躍をしてくれています。 ◎アイロン 工業用アイロンは、縫製工場には不可欠のアイテムです。 工場におけるアイロンの役割は2つあります。 ①中間アイロン･･･縫製途中でパーツにかけるアイロン工程 ②仕上げアイロン･･･完成した製品にかけるアイロン工程 工場ごとに、取り扱っている製品の種類によって、用意しているアイロン台の大きさや形、アイロンの種類などが全く異なります。 初めてお邪魔した工場に、どんなアイロンがどんな場所に置かれているかを見る事で、その工場で取り扱っている商品の種類がわかってしまうほど、その役割は特徴的です。 1番簡単な見分け方は、中間アイロンがほとんど無いのがカットソー工場。ミシン工程の間に、さまざまなアイロンが並んでいるのがシャツやパンツなどの布帛(ふはく)工場となります😊 工業用アイロンは軽量化が進んでいるとはいえ、まだまだ重量が重く、始業から就業まで腰をかがめながら一日中アイロンをかけ続けるという作業は重労働です。 また、大量の蒸気を発生させるため、夏場は暑さとの戦いを強いられます。 アイロンをかける事を「お化粧する」と呼ぶ事もありました。重労働の中に繊細な技術を求められる作業でもある事から、日本にも昔は大工さんと同じように「アイロン職人」と呼ばれる、日雇いの職人さんが多数居ました。 おおよそ日当25000円〜で、仕事がある時には、どこへでも出掛けて行って、一日中アイロンをかけては、日当をもらって…という職人さん達。 ◎シリコーンスプレー 縫製工場では従来、油(ミシン油など)が、いろんな場面で多様されていました。 機械の構造はシンプルなものが多いので、とにかくメンテナンスが重要な為、油を差す！という作業はとても重要でした。 ところがこの油、生地に染み込むと非常に厄介で…特に糸の番手が細くなったり、ハイゲージと呼ばれる高密度の生地が流行するにつれ、より油染みが落としにくく、大きな障害となり始めました。 そこで登場したのが、ポリマーを使用したこちらのシリコーンスプレーです。樹脂は生地に染み込む事ができないので、生地を汚しません。 潤滑剤として機械部品同士の摩擦を減らす事はもちろんの事こと、静電気を除去したり、クリーナーとして機械を磨いたりと、大活躍します！ 絶対にストックを切らせてはいけないアイテムのひとつです💪 . . . . . ◎糸ロックス アパレル製品には、下げ札(プライスカード)や、取り扱い注意札、などが紐状の物で取り付けられるのが一般的です。 昭和の時代は、安全ピンで製品に取り付けられるのが一般的でした。 アパレル製品は布でできているので、どこにでも安全ピンを刺す事ができる！という利便性と、安全ピンという名前の文字通り、安全！という前提がありました。 平成に入ってから、安全ピンの針が鋭利な為…事故が起こってしまうかもしれない🤔という安全性の見直しがかかり、やがてアパレル製品から安全ピンが消えていきました。 もっとも、生地にキズをつけてしまう！という理由もあったからだとも言われています。 現在、弊社の取引先で、安全ピンを使用しているブランドは、ゼロになりました。 そこに取って代わったのが、こちらの糸ロックスです。 作業上のデメリットも実はあるんです。 一度取り付けたらヒモを切らない限り取り外すことができない。 製品の構造上どこにも糸ロックスをくぐらせるポイントがない場合、糸ロックス取り付けの為だけを目的とした「タグテープ」を縫い付けておかないといけない。 こうして手間をかけながらも、安全な品質を追求していこうとする動きは、少しずつ社会全体で進んでおり、縫製工場も柔軟に対応しながら変化しています。 . . . ◎キャスター キャスターは、一般的なオフィス家具や、もちろん家庭で使う家具にも使われているので、おなじみかとは思われますが…縫製工場でも大活躍です！ 特にカットソーを扱う弊社の工場には、職人の人数の約4倍の台数のミシンを保有しています。 カットソーの場合は特にミシンの種類が多い事と、1人が常に3台のミシンを掛け持ちで使用する事によるものです。 生産ラインの中には、常にミシンが整然と置かれているように見えますが、実は生産する製品によって、ミシンのレイアウトがどんどん変化します。 ミシンをパズルのように置き換えてレイアウトを入れ替えていく必要があり、その際にこのキャスターが大活躍するのです。 ところが縫製工場のキャスターは、いつも敵と戦っています🔥 それは、糸くずです！ 回転しながら次々と糸くずを巻き込み、あっという間に機能停止状態に陥ります。 職人が自由に、スピーディーにミシンの配置換えができる様、キャスターのコンディションを美しく保つ事も我々裏方の大切な仕事です！ . . . . .
