デヴィッド・ボウイ主演の「地球に落ちて来た男」でも有名なニコラス・ローグ監督の映画「ジェラシー」(pic.6)ではオープニングからクリムトとシーレの絵が登場して、映画全体のテーマを示唆していました。 本編のなかのキース・ジャレットやトム・ウェイツなどの曲の使い方も、さすがに以前ボウイを起用した監督だけあって、選曲のセンス良かったですね🎶 東京都美術館で開催されている「レオポルド美術館 エゴン・シーレ展」ではウィーンにあるレオポルド美術館に所蔵されている19世紀末を中心とした作品が展示されています。 エゴン・シーレの作品(pic.2-5)だけを展示しているのではなく、同時代の作品のなかにシーレの作品が位置づけられている企画でした。個人的にはシーレの風景画もなかなか良いなぁ(pic.7)。 会場内はほとんど撮影不可だったので、レオポルド美術館のWEB画像を一部引用していますが、特に気に入ったのがウィーン分離派(SECESSION)のポスター(pic.8)。 当時としては斬新で、今見てもかっこよしですね👍 リヒャルト・ゲルストルの作品は初めてでしたが、背景の青の色とシュッと屹立したような自画像に惹かれました(pic.9)。 ニューヨーク生まれのピーター・ビアードは、大学を卒業後にアフリカのケニアに移住。国立公園で働きながら出版した写真集「The End of the Game」で鮮烈にデビュー。 その内容は、凄まじい自然界の掟、一方でライオン狩りやアフリカ象の乱獲をする人間の姿・・・厳しい大自然の姿が綴られたものでした。 一方でコラージュ（アッサンブラージュ）の手法で綴られていた日記が深化して新たな作品となっていきました。 言葉や写真だけでなく、雑誌や新聞の切り抜き、広告イメージなどが寄せ集められたコラージュ。 次第にそのコラージュ作品が集まることで「Diary」という作品集が完成しました。 「Diary」は日記を逸脱してイメージ、文字、形や色彩の遊び場として自由に生命を与えられたような感じ😁 当時、アンディ・ウォーホルやサルバトール・ダリ、フランシス・ベーコン、トルーマン・カポーティなどのアーティストと親交を深め、彼のコラージュ作品のなかにも度々登場しています。 その交友関係の中心となるニューヨークのクラブ（というか社交場のようなディスコでしたが）“STUDIO54”にも入り浸っていたようで・・・なんとなくイメージが違って見えたのですが😅、彼による自らのプロフィールを読んで納得 「Peter Beardとは、ジェントルマンであり、社交家、芸術家、写真家、預言者、ロサリオ（女たらし）、プレイボーイ、そしてドラッグの愛好家であり、最後の冒険家です。」 2020年、ピーター・ビアードの遺体が発見されたのはニューヨークの公園。 都会という優雅でワイルドなジャングルでの幕引きは、奔放な冒険家としてのあるべき句点だったのでしょうか🙏 #ピータービアード #peterbeard #写真 永井荷風によって40年以上ほぼ毎日書き続けられた「断腸亭日乗」には、日記の形で過去の風景や想いが記されています。 昭和11年あたりから小説「濹東綺譚」の舞台となる“玉の井”の記述も出てきます。 小説「濹東綺譚」の舞台となったのは現在の東京都墨田から向島辺り。 残念ながら小説に出てくるような風情ある景色はわずかばかりですが。 近くにできた新しい観光スポットとしての東京スカイツリーのほうが有名ですよね😀 そして「濹東綺譚」の挿絵を描いたのは日本橋生まれの洋画家、随筆家の木村荘八。 失われていく場所と人の記憶を情緒豊かな絵として残してくれています。 江戸から明治、大正、昭和までの近代日本の姿を共感、悲哀、喜び、おかしみなどを名文とともに味のある挿画として描いてます。 新藤兼人監督による映画「濹東綺譚」のオープニングにも使われています。 時は今、ネットやSNSで公開している情報も後の人にとっては時代の記憶、文化の歴史として残っていくわけですから面白いものですね。 ちなみに地名といえば東京の西麻布辺りの昔の地名は“霞町”。霧で有名だったので春の霧＝“霞町”と名付けられたようですが、そのほうが風情もあって◎ 作者の田島享央己（たじまたかおき）さんは代々続く仏師の家系だということですが、なんともユーモラスな作品の姿に和んじゃいますよね。 でも作品を近くでじっくり見ると、ノミや彫刻刀の刃の削り痕の勢いと技に、さすが五代目って感じです！ 田島さんの木彫刻作品はもちろんすばらしいのですが、平面作品のほうも好きなんです。 愛らしさと少々の毒っ気とユーモアのある絵画も気に入ってます。 最近では、糸井重里著 小さなことばシリーズの最新作「生まれちゃった。」 の表紙に作品が採用されています。 作品に興味のある方は、東京国際フォーラムで開催中の「ART FAIR TOKYO」またはGALLERY UG Tennozで作品を観ることができますよ。 ユキヒロさんの突然の訃報で思い出したのがピエール・バルーのアルバム「Le Pollen 花粉」。 ピエール・バルーは映画「男と女」の音楽で有名ですが、ボサノバ、シャンソンなど自らの音楽活動だけでなく、多くのミュージシャンのプロデュースを行っていたSARAVAH（サラヴァ）レーベルを主催していました。 アルバム「Le Pollen」は、高橋幸宏、坂本龍一、ムーンライダーズ他の協力を得て製作されました。シャンソン、ボサノバ、ジャズ、テクノが渾然一体となった傑作です👍 アルバムのタイトル曲『花粉』では、バルー、高橋幸宏、デヴィッド・シルヴィアンの三人が日本語、英語、フランス語で”自分を培ってくれた花粉”へのリスペクトを語り合います。 それは時代や言語を超えたリスペクトの輪をつないでいく素敵な“種”となった名曲。そう、TOKYOのベル・エポック！ ユキヒロさんが大好きで何度も観た映画「男と女」から、最初のソロアルバムのタイトルを「SARAVAH !」にしたということ。その後のすばらしい巡り合わせを予感していたのでしょうか！ もう一曲、バルーの追悼アルバム「限りない宇宙」の最後に収録されていて、アルバム「おくりもの」に収録されていた曲『出逢いの星』。 バルーの温かみを感じる、包み込まれるような愛に満ちた曲はウルウル🥺 バックボーカルのMaria Davidのすばらしさも特筆もの。 『出逢いの星』の前半ではロマンチックな恋物語が語られ、後半で恋する二人を俯瞰するかのような時空の広がりを見せる映像的な歌詞が素敵です。 これは漆彫刻家として活動をされている青木千絵さんの作品。 そう、漆の作品なんです。 身体が液体になって溶けだしていっているのか、漆黒の塊から身体が生まれ出ようとしているのか、なんとも不思議なメタモルフォーゼ表現ですね。 実際の身体に近いサイズ感なので、ちょっと不気味な感じもしますが、その上質な質感故に触れたくなるような滑らかさが魅力的😍 漆は、木などに何度も塗り重ねることで漆の層が厚くなって強度が増すだけでなく、中の光を閉じ込めちゃうように感じます。 同時に表面の艶やかさが増してくるため、単なる黒とは違う趣のあるまさに”漆黒”になるんでしょうね。 青木さんの作品を見ていて、ふと思いだしたのがルイジ・コラーニのデザイン。 流線型や生物のゆるやかな曲線などを使ったエルゴノミクス（人間の身体や能力にあわせた）デザインが好きでした。 70年代後半〜90年代のイギリス・ロックシーンを撮影して、音楽シーンとして発信していたトシ矢嶋さんの写真は、時代の記憶「LONDON RHAPSODY」という写真集として残っています。 当時、トシ矢嶋さんは写真だけでなく、新しいバンドやファッションなどロンドンやイギリスの情報を伝えてくれていました。 ポール・ウェラー、シャーデー、Yellow Magic Orchestra、ザ・ジャム、ジェフ・ベック、イギー・ポップ、ロバート・フリップ、ボブ・マーリー、スペシャルズ・・・写真を見るだけで当時の音楽が聞こえてきそうです。 当時の音楽シーンの息吹を伝えてくれる写真のすばらしさはもちろんですが、当時を振り返って書かれたエッセイが心に沁みます。 まさにラプソディらしく、ちょっとした諍いやもめごとから人とのつながり、温かさまでそれぞれがドラマになってます。 Amazonオリジナルの映像作品「パス・オーバー」は小気味良い会話のなか、リアルでシリアスな人種差別を描いた舞台を映像化した作品。 スパイク・リー監督らしいちょっと変化球の多いユーモアと言葉遊びが面白い！ コミカルでシニカル、希望と絶望が表裏一体となった作品を送り出したサミュエル・ベケットの「ゴドーを待ちながら」へのオマージュでしょうか。 差別用語や銃声音が強烈なアクセントのように会話のなかに織り込まれていて、リアルな刺々しい現実を表出させています。 主人公の二人は理想の地を求めながらも、なかなか前に進めない・・・まさにベケット的不条理。 なんといってもスパイクリー監督による映像化は見事！ 舞台の良さである生々しい雰囲気をしっかりと記録しながら、カメラでしかできない「絞り」や「カット／切り取り」、クローズアップなどをうまく使って映像表現しています👍 さらに観客の表情や街の風景などを効果的に作品中に入れ込むことで、舞台の上の物語は絵空事ではなく今も街中で起こっていることだということを印象付けています。 デヴィッド・バーンの映画「アメリカン・ユートピア」もスパイク・リー監督作品でしたが、「アメリカン・ユートピア」同様、すてきな舞台と映画を同時に観たような素晴らしい映像作品に仕上げています。 演劇に興味がない人でも楽しめる仕掛けがたっぷり。 ちなみにタイトルの「パス・オーバー」とは“過ぎ越し祭”と言われ、出エジプトによりユダヤ民族が開放されたことをお祝いするお祭りのことだとか。 以前に読んだハ・ワン氏による「あやうく一生懸命生きるところだった」は、競争社会に疲れた韓国でヒット作になったようです。 その中身は、今やスタンダードと言われるようになったアングロ・サクソン的な生き方とは少し距離を置く考え方。 日本でもラット・レースにお疲れな人にとってはミントキャンディ的清涼感を感じたはずです、きっと。 そんな脱力系の内容と共通するこの本、チェ・ジニョン著「吾輩こそ猫である」。 ”生き方”云々のようなメッセージ性はほどほどですが、ちょっとクスっと笑ってしまう一発ギャグや４コマ漫画のような内容に癒やされます。 イラストのチルアウト具合もなかなかのものです😄 日本でも「きょうの猫村さん」的なほっこり系の作品はファンも多いですよね。 「きょうの猫村さん」は、松重豊さんによる実写版の映像化作品もあるなんて知りませんでしたが。 ナイフや折れたゴルフクラブを手にしたり、神の使いの鹿にまたがったり・・・業を背負った人間は一人一人がどこかで見た仏像のようなポージング🧘 サラリーマン・スーツを脱ぎ捨てた”パンイチ”のおじさんの心の自由と開放感たっぷりの姿はたまりませんね😆 「どうしようもできないとわかっちゃいるけど、ダメなんだよ」 19世紀末から20世紀初頭のパリで様々な文化が華開いた時代”ベルエポック”のように、YMOはテクノ・ミュージックという音楽だけでなく、ファッションや思想などのカルチャーを産み出しました。 なかでもユキヒロさんは当時Bricksなどのファッション・ブランドも手がけ、デザイナーの山本耀司とも親交の深い、いわゆるミュージシャンとは違った独特な雰囲気をまとった方でした。 ご自宅のアール・デコのインテリアや絵画などアートについても雑誌などで見た記憶があります。 ユキヒロさんのアルバムで特に好きなのは「NEUROMANTIC ニウロマンティック」。 アルバムのタイトルは、当時流行っていたムーブメント”ニューロマンティック”をもじってNEUROTIC（神経症の）とROMANTIC（ロマンティック）を合わせた造語です。 坂本龍一、細野晴臣はもちろん、ロキシーミュージックのアンディ・マッケイやフィル・マンザネラも参加するなど豪華なメンバー構成で、サウンド的には同時期のYMOのアルバム「BGM」と合わせ鏡のようだと個人的には思っています。 ユキヒロさんの音楽や美的センスだけでなく、ユーモアのセンスや人柄によって、ミュージシャンだけでなく多くの方々から愛され／リスペクトされていただけに、早世が本当に悔やまれます。
