The posture of the central figure on the ground remains the same from the previous work. The newly added figure mounted on the horse works in the same field as the the central figure, who studies animals that symbolize good luck, and the two are accompanied by their own creatures of this kind. Following the leashes held by the men discovers which animals belong to which man; however the rule of thumb here is, the ones coming toward the foreground belong to the central character, and the others advancing to the background are owned by the new man on horseback. The luck possessed by the two men and the animals enables them to slickly accomplish the dangerous task of this short-distance crossings without any contact.

Behind are bolts of lightning flashing in the sky seen from the open door. Although the possibility of getting struck by the lightning is equal to zero, the cat is instinctively lowering its posture as if it knows the fact that lightning hits something tall. Angels holding the shields are figures that visualize defensive instinct of the cat. It represents the overly self-conscious nature of the cat that it is worried about getting struck by the lightning even though there are a greater number of things that are taller than him.

RSVP at: info@dorothycircusgallery.com Waiting List & Sales Enquires: sales@dorothycircusgallery.com 【Title】A Little-Red-Riding-Hood Situation The theme of this work is the act of what is thought to be negligible and insignificant leads to something unexpected due to some mysterious influence caused by the act itself. The work draws the scene where the protective gear worn by the girl, who is a dog trainer, resembles the appearance of the main character in the fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood”, attracting the wolf due to some accidental force appearing in the image of an angel. However, the girl, thanks to her usual training, deals with this in a calm fashin. In the background is another dog trainer who fell victim to this force.

Snow, sand, sea water, lighting that illuminates inconspicuous creatures, all of which are required for camouflaging yet should not normally exist together in this kind of environment, are brought about by his mysterious luck that appears in the image of an angel, attracted by the man’s strong enthusiasm.

This is because souls in the image of angels dwelled in them. When the girl reaches puberty and approaches adulthood, the angels finish their roles and set out in search of where they should be, whether it be the heaven or new ‘homes’ to live in, as if butterflies emerge from pupae.

The scene, drawn as if it is underwater, represents a haunting dream that he is having, and in it a half-beast (a lion) half-fish (a shark) creature fiercely attacks the explorer with its fierce sharp fangs. His beloved cat, having the identical pattern as a Malayan tapir, which is believed to devour dreams, summons a chimera of the tapir (upper body) and a dugong (lower body) and saves its master from the nightmare. Straddling the chimera is an angel appearing in the image of the god of the sea, which is a sign that the cat is having an auspicious dream.

RSVP at info@dorothycircusgallery.com Waiting List & Sales Enquires: sales@dorothycircusgallery.com 【Title】The Triptych in Praise of Sunlight In a desire to face the fundamental religious and mythical elements of triptychs, I focused on “deities of the sun’, which indubitably signify the same entity, the “Sun’, yet manifested in various forms and names across the world. In the scenes, along with the deity of the sun, are dispersed in every corner all sorts of objects, whether they be scientific or symbolic, that are associated with the sun, demonstrating its theme of harmony and dissonance generated from the melange of diversity and commonality among each. From the left, the triptych consists of sunrise (birth), daytime (peak), and sunset (end and rebirth), based on the idea from various cultures of the world that likens the movement of the sun seen from the ground to the loops of birth and death.

RSVP at info@dorothycircusgallery.com Waiting List & Sales Enquires: sales@dorothycircusgallery.com 【title】 Theatre: Evolutionary Genesis This work is rendered in a way that shows up a triptych upon the opening of the door, something that resembles the opening of theatre. The angels, wearing skin-tight garments that cover the entire body, while blending in with the background, play the role of Kuroko (lit. black clad, stagehands in traditional Japanese theatre, who dress all in black). They represent, on the premise that they ‘must not be seen’, a symbol of divine existence of the reality incognizable to the human sense. In the background of the painting on the right realistically depicts the God-created sublime nature, contrasted with the other two that represent an artificial beauty based on the image of theatre. The central painting provides the view of the universe visible through the earth fissure, which symbolizes insecurity and apprehension invoked by the separation from God’s blessing. In this work, I am attempting in my own way to show the fusion of Genesis on a religious sense and evolution from a scientific point of view.
