The first retrospective exhibition since her passing opened today at The National Art Center, Tokyo. We try to discover the earliest stage of Mori’s career, tracing how she helped define a new model of womanhood as an artist, working professional, a wife, and a mother, and how she conveyed this image through her work as a fashion designer. This exhibition surveys the full scope of Mori’s long career through approximately 400 works, including pieces being shown in Japan for the first time. #新美tips💡 休館日何してる？展示室で生まれる、まだ誰も見ていない展覧会国内最大級の展示空間を有する国立新美術館では、休館日も展示室の時間は静かに、しかし確かに流れ続けています。延べ約14,000㎡におよぶ展示スペースと12の展示室は、展覧会が開催されていない間、次の企画へと姿を変える準備の場となります。壁の位置、照明の角度、作品同士の距離。空間のすべてが、これから始まる体験のために一つひとつ創りあげられていきます。その中心にいるのがアーティストです。キュレーターをはじめとした当館のスタッフはアーティストの思想を読み解きながら、単に作品を選ぶ存在ではなく、研究成果や時代背景、「この場所で、どの順番で、どのように見せるか」という物語をアーティストともに空間に編み込んでいきます。展示室全体を一冊の本のように構成し、来館者の歩みそのものが思考の流れになるよう設計していく作業は、休館日だからこそ集中して行われます。国立新美術館で開催される、同時代の表現を扱う展覧会においては、今この時代を生きるアーティストとともにつくり上げていくことが特徴の一つとなっています。企画展示室では、アーティスト自身も立ち会い、作品の設置位置や見え方、空間との関係性について対話を重ねます。数センチの高さの違い、光の強弱、鑑賞者の視線の動き。その一つひとつが作品の意味を左右するため、現場では緊張感のあるセッションが繰り返されます。休館日は、まだ誰も見ていない展覧会が、かたちを持ち始める時間です。完成された展示の背後には、静かな展示室で交わされた無数の対話があります。あっと驚く体験や、思いがけない作品との出会いを届けるために今日も次の展覧会へ向けた準備が進められています。　　 💡「新美Tips」では、国立新美術館のさまざまな魅力や楽しみ方を発信しています。新美Tips の詳細は @thenationalartcentertokyo のサイトからチェック🔗 　　　 #NACT #thenationalrtcentertokyo #新美tips #NACTtips #21日は新美tipsの日

In the 1990s, artists known as the Young British Artists (YBAs) radically redefined contemporary art. Drawing on popular culture, personal narratives, and rapidly shifting social structures, they challenged existing artistic conventions. Through works by the YBAs and their contemporaries, this exhibition traces the creative trajectory that British art forged during the 1990s. Approximately 100 works by around 60 artists will be brought together. Experience firsthand the energy of 1990s British art and the currents of artistic expression that continue to resonate today.
