Master Yasumoto Kajiwara’s kiln is located near the ancient kiln site “Itogi Kiln” in Kitahata-Ayugaeri, Saga Prefecture. This site is said to be the location of the first climbing kiln in Karatsu. All the materials for his pottery are sourced from the surrounding area. The clay is prepared by grinding blocks of sandstone in a stone mill and selecting only the fine particles, while glazes are made using local grasses and straw. As much as possible, he reproduces the conditions of the time in his work. Deeply knowledgeable in layered soils, geological structures, and firing reactions, Kajiwara combines research and meticulous practice.
