Hope you’re doing well :) I had a dream that we both collaborated on a small zine where we took images at the same time during one 24 hour cycle and sequenced them all in a fun a strange way. I woke up certain we did this and then realized it was a dream. But then I thought what if we actually did this? こんにちは！お元気ですか？ 私たち2人が24時間の中で同時に写真を撮影し、それらを楽しい奇妙な方法で並べた小さなZINEを共同制作する夢を見たんだ。 私たちがこれをやったと確信したところで目が覚めたんだけど、それは夢だった。 でも、もしこれを実際にやったらどうなるだろう？ とても興味深い夢だと思った。上記の事を実際に行うのは困難だが、何とか形にしたいと強く感じた。 マイケルが撮影した写真から、マイケルは対象物を注意深く観察しながら、何か違うものを見ようとしているのを感じていた。それは私にも言える特徴だ。 この2人の共通点と、奇妙なズレ(ちょうど夢の中で自分の身体を動かすときにラグを感じるように)が、先に述べたマイケルの"白昼夢のようなZINE"の手掛かりになると思った。 そして私たちは、写真での応答(ラリー)を始めた。 "Michael and Kenta playing Ping-Pong Pang!" Michael is a photographer working in Portland who purchased my photo book. One day I received an Instagram DM from him. -——————— Hey! Although it is difficult to actually do the above, I strongly felt that I would like to give shape to it somehow. From the photographs Michael takes, I sense that he is carefully observing the subject and trying to see something different. That is a trait that I can also describe. I thought the similarities between the two of us, and the strange displacement (just like the lag you feel when you move your body in a dream), would be a clue to Michael's "daydream-like ZINE" mentioned earlier.
