  • Only one month left @21_kanazawa 🥲日本で初めての美術館での個展も、残りあと1か月。。 これまでに10万人近くの人に来ていただいて、自分でも想像を超える体験だった。日本を代表する美術館のひとつで展示できたことは、本当に光栄でしかない。ご尽力いただいた学芸員のみなさん、特に立松さん、三浦さん、野中さん、そしてギャラリーKOTARO NUKAGAのサポートには心から感謝しています。 Apparently over 100,000 people have already visited. It’s beyond anything I could have imagined. Truly an honour to share my work at one of Japan’s major institutions.   • My first-ever solo exhibition at a museum in Japan has finally opened🥲❤️‍🔥ついに日本で初の美術館での個展が始まりました。 @21_kanazawa トロントのカナダ現代美術館での個展から11年。あの頃思い描いていた夢のひとつが、今ようやく現実になりました。 日本に戻ってまだ4年あまり。こんなにも早くこのような機会をいただけたことに、正直まだ実感が追いついていません。 まだまだ未熟な部分は多々ありますが、今の自分にできるすべてを注ぎ込んだ展示です。 10月5日まで金沢21世紀美術館にて開催中です。お近くにお越しの際は、ぜひ足を運んでいただけたら嬉しいです。 この機会をくださった学芸員の野中さん、展示準備を丁寧に進めてくださった立松さんと三浦さん、そして日々支えてくださるギャラリー、KOTARO NUKAGAの中村さん、額賀さんに心から感謝申し上げます。そして今回の制作に力を貸してくれたErlineと父にも、深く感謝しています。 It’s been 11 years since my solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto, and now, one of the dreams I’ve carried since then has come true. It was only 4 years ago that I decided to move back to Japan after spending 15 years in Canada, so being invited to exhibit at this major Japanese museum still feels almost surreal. There’s still so much I have to learn and grow into as an artist, but I can say that I poured everything I have right now into this exhibition. The show runs until October 5th at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. If you’re in the area, please stop by. I’m deeply grateful to the curator Nonaka-san for this opportunity, to Tatematsu-san and Miura-san for their support throughout the installation, and to Nakamura-san and Nukaga-san at the gallery for their continued support. Keita Morimoto’s paintings investigate the interplay of light and shadow, offering a reimagined perspective on the modern urban landscape. Rooted in classical techniques and infused with contemporary sensibilities, his works transform everyday scenes into cinematic tableaux that hover between reality and dream. Morimoto challenges viewers to uncover beauty in the mundane and magic in the overlooked by marrying meticulous observation with an otherworldly atmosphere. In ‘To Nowhere and Back’ at Almine Rech in New York City, he continues his exploration of light as a transformative force, turning the quotidian into the paranormal.
