Thui2 (6523m) “Spider’s Thread” ED+, M7, A2, 1450m Hindu Raj, Pakistan 4 days (9/21~24) C1 5810m C2 6250m C3 6523m (Summit) 昨年も訪れたパキスタンのヒンドゥーラジ山域にて、心から満足いくクライミングができた。46年ぶりのピーク第2登、西壁の初登。大雪による12日間のBCでの停滞後も、雪崩や落石といったコントロール不可能な危険をできるだけ避け、可能な限り攻撃的で合理的なラインを攻めて山頂まで繋げられたのが嬉しい。その結果、登頂は夕暮れとなってしまい、激しい頭痛と強風の中、悲惨な6500m頂上ビバークとなったが、目覚めてみると昨年登ったGhamubar Zom5が堂々とした姿で出迎えてくれ、素晴らしい朝を迎える事ができた。応援して頂いた皆様、ありがとうございました。 We made a first ascent of West Face of Thui2 (6523m). The peak itself has been already climbed from the other side 46 years ago, but it has not been repeated from any route until now. After waiting for 12 days for the weather window, I am so proud and lucky to draw such a beautiful line towards the summit. Also the terrible bivouac at the summit (6523m) made me so painful, cold, and uncomfortable, but that experience even added some spice for this climb. After the sunrise, I saw Ghamubar Zom5, which we climbed last year. 南米ペルーのブランカ山群、キタラフ(6036m)に新ルートから登頂する事ができた。 (最終で合流した南東稜は約40年ほど前にトレースされているらしいが、我々は殆ど情報を見つけ出せず、当時と状況も大きく異なったと思われる。) ルートは写真の通り、ピッチ数にして40ピッチ以上、気の抜ける箇所は全くなく、アックスの刃先が刺さらないシュガースノーや、先の見えないルートファインディングに大苦戦…。個人的には、序盤のテクニカルな南壁さえ越えれば何とかなると思っていたが、核心はその先のゴジラの背中のような稜線すべて。雪は全く使い物にならず、グレードでは表現する事ができない厳しさの連続。行き詰まったと落胆すれば、奇跡的に現れた氷のトンネルを抜け、落ちてきたら終わりの巨大セラックの脅威に耐えながらもジリジリと駒を進め、極め付きは5900m地点で15mの大墜落をしてしまうも、運良く無傷でチームの総力を出し尽くし、山頂までラインを繋げた。下降は反対側の北壁をアバラコフで下山。これも落石の嵐で、怪我をしなかったのは運が良かった。もう人生で二度と、これ程厳しく危険な登山をできないかもしれない。今まで経験してきたハンター北壁や、昨年のアウサンガテ北壁、ガンバルゾム北西稜が可愛く思えるような、壮絶な登攀だった。全てを出し尽くしたと思える、美しく、冒険的なビッグラインを試登なしのアルパインスタイルで描く事ができ、今は言葉に出来ない充実感で一杯だ。 We made a new route on Quitaraju (6036m) in Cordillera Blanca, Peru. (The southeast ridge where we finally joined in the end has been probably traced about 40 years ago, but we could find little information about it, and the situation seems to have changed significantly since then.) As you can see in pictures, the route had more than 40 pitches, and non of them are easy to climb. I thought we would be able to speed up once we crossed the technical south face at the 1st day, but the crux of the climb was the whole ridge beyond that, which looked like White Godzilla's back. When we felt discouraged that we had reached a dead end, we were lucky to find the ice tunnels that miraculously exist. Also, I took 15m fall on the sketchy 90° Snow-Ice section at 5900m, but we somehow pass that part with a total team effort. I felt this climb was much harder than Moonflower buttress or Ausangate North face, Ghamubar Zom North West ridge that I have done in 2023. I may never be able to complete such a difficult and dangerous climb again in my life.
