This exhibition showcases drawings created by various artists who primarily work in painting and sculpture. These works represent the foundational expressions underlying their main practices. The exhibition focuses on the historical fact that humanity has developed through mutual exchange, despite repeatedly engaging in various conflicts throughout history. It aims to embody the free and diverse energy through the art works that stands in opposition to the expanding closed and exclusionary values we face today, in a world where division is becoming more widespread. Presented works include a work by the Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami, who depicts his childhood memories of World War II in a pop and psychedelic manner; Hajime Sorayama, who fuses science fiction with themes of sanctity and sexuality; the young Japanese artist Yoshiki Muramatsu, whose works are influenced by the culture of yesteryear from the 50s to the 70s as well as today’s contemporary culture, representing a generation that has simultaneously embraced both eras; the Korean artist Jang Koal, whose works, mixed with pop iconography, are seductive and mysterious; and Raymond Lemstra, a Dutch artist based in Seoul, creates works that utilize bold colors and simplistic shapes, imbuing his work with a somewhat awkward essence. Each work in this exhibition presents its own interpretation of what it means for us humankind, to live.
