  • 最近の出来事。愛犬と秋祭りに行ってDAG FORCE @dagforce_yo のライブを見てAIの勉強をして髪切って久々にゲド戦記を読んでT3 PHOTO FESTIVALへ行った日々。 T3で見たスティーブン・ショアといえば、自分が思う良い写真みたいなものの原点はスティーブン・ショアとか森山大道とかアリ・マルコポロスとかロバートキャパとか、きっとそういった写真をたくさん見てきた集積であって、あまりに影響を受けてしまったので今や自分の写真それ自体の一部みたいなものにもなっているのだと思う。 マネをしようと思って無くても似てしまう、クセが乗り移る。彼らの思想や解釈を知って自分に取り入れようとしてあまりに近づき過ぎてしまう。 近づき過ぎた事に気づいて距離を取ろうとして、他の作家や全く違う業界の勉強を始めたりする。新しい自分になろうとする。 そうやってたくさんの価値や文化が自分の中で一回りして、数年が経って当時好きだった作家を見てみると、その間に得た知識や技術が当時のそれとは違う新しい視点を与えてくれる。 その視点は当時の視点と結びつきながらも変容して、次の成長へと繋がる。コツを掴む。 武道で言うと守破離みたいな考え方なのかなと思いつつ、何か違う気もする。この現象に名を付けよ。 代田橋に友人達と住んでた頃、ルームメイトは僕が写真家を全然知らない事に驚いて良い作家をことごとく教えてくれた。 スティーブン・ショアの写真を見るたびにいつも思い出す事。

  • CONTRAST @contrast_tokyo で行われた三澤亮介 @ryosuke_misawa_53 の個展「Ryu-sen」は無事閉幕。おかげさまで良い感じに盛況でした。三澤さんのチャレンジし続け、変わり続ける姿勢に影響を受けてます。三澤さんありがとうございました！次回の作品も楽しみです。またやりましょう！

  • GRの新作が出るらしい。欲しい。 GRのようなコンデジの良いところは利便性が高いところ。軽くて小さくてポケットにしまえてフラッシュが焚けるところ。 最近のコンデジはISOの感度をどこまで上げれるか、「こんな暗くてもフラッシュ無しでここまで撮れる！」みたいなものの価値が先行し過ぎてしまい、いつからかカメラにフラッシュを内蔵する事は主流では無くなり、GRも III以降は内蔵されなくなってしまった。「すいません！内蔵フラッシュだからこれが限界なんです！」みたいな安っぽい感じの光量が好きなのに。なのでGRはⅡしか買わなくなった。GRⅡを使い続けて10年。5台目。 今回発売するIVも内蔵フラッシュは無いのだけれど、超小型のフラッシュ、GF-2も発売される事になった。内蔵では無いけどこれだけ小さければ自分的にはOK。軽くて小さくてポケットにしまえてフラッシュが焚ける。GR IV欲しい。抽選が当たりますように。 カメラが変わると撮るタイミングが変わる。撮るタイミングが変わると撮る対象が変わる。撮る対象が変わると考え方も変わる。カメラに合わせて自分の性格が変容してるんじゃないかという錯覚。GRはコントラストの強い白黒が撮りたくなる。GRは撮ったら撮りっぱなしでデータを取り込むのを忘れてしまう。何故なら「GRは撮るという行為そのものでかなりの満足感を得てしまうから」といういかにもフォトグラファー都合な理由がしっくりくるようにも感じる。今回は半年分のデータが残っていた。 半年間を細切れに見返す感覚はずっと引き出しに入れててすっかり忘れていたフィルムを現像する時のようなドキドキ感、記憶の断片のような、走馬灯みたいな感覚に近い。 即時性が醍醐味のデジタルの性質に相反するようなその感覚。デジタルカメラなのに。抽選が当たりますように。 The new GR is coming out. I want it. What’s great about a compact camera like the GR is the convenience: it’s light, small, slips into a pocket, and you can fire a flash. Lately, compacts have leaned too hard into “How high can we push the ISO?”—as in, “Look, even this dark and you don’t need a flash!” Somewhere along the line, built-in flashes fell out of fashion, and even the GR lost its built-in unit from the III onward. But I love that slightly cheap-looking light that says, “Sorry, it’s built-in—this is as good as it gets!” So I stopped buying anything except the GR II. Ten years with the GR II now—on my fifth one. The new GR IV also doesn’t have a built-in flash, but they’re releasing an ultra-compact flash. I want the GR IV. I hope I win the lottery. When the camera changes, the timing of my shots changes. When the timing changes, the subject changes. When the subject changes, my way of thinking changes too. It almost feels like my personality morphs to match the camera. The GR makes me want to shoot punchy, high-contrast black and white. With the GR I’ll just keep shooting and forget to import the files; the very photographer-ish excuse—“because the act of shooting with the GR is satisfying enough”—actually rings true.   • 大阪二日目はVS. @vsvs.jp さんにお誘い頂きチヒロさん @otsuki_chihiro と安藤忠雄展へ。 LVのオープニングで会った人たちみんなに行った方が良いとオススメされてたのでなんたる幸運。都市ゲリラという考え方にグッと来た！東京でもやって欲しい。平日とか関係無しの超満員のお客さんに圧倒されたの巻。 On the second day in Osaka, I was invited by VS. to the Tadao Ando exhibition with my friend. At the LV opening, everyone I met told me I had to go so I feel incredibly lucky. I was really struck by the concept of “urban guerrilla.” I hope they bring it to Tokyo too!   • Mr.Children @mc_official_jp が6/25にリリースしたLIVE DVD & Blu-ray「miss you LIVE」に収録されている楽曲「雨の日のパレード」のライブ映像演出をインフォーカスで担当させて頂きました！ ブランディングやデザインの仕事を始めてからしばらくが経ちますが、僕がデザインの存在を認識したのはミスチルのアトミックハートの真っ青なビジュアルと、裏面の恐らく原子をモチーフにした円形のものを見ている目のグラフィックです。 その後も深海のビジュアルでアンディ・ウォーホルを知ったり、BOLEROを聞いてクラシックのボレロを知って、ボレロの構成で永劫回帰を知ってニーチェを知って哲学に興味を持ったり。 心理学に最初に興味を持ったのもesの意味を調べた時にフロイトを知った事がきっかけです。ミスチルを始まりとしたたくさんの物の見方は僕の色々な原点になっていると思います。 今回のプロジェクトはKITE inc @kiteinc_instaの稲垣さんにお声掛け頂き始まりました。 稲垣さんとの出会いもミスチルのアートディレクターをされていた信藤三雄さんについてツイートした事がきっかけです。 自分の人生に一番影響を受けたアーティストのクリエイティブに関わらせてもらい、本当に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。ありがとうございました！ チーム一丸で制作した映像はDVD&Blu-rayで是非！ Mr.Children released their LIVE DVD & Blu-ray "miss you LIVE" on June 25. IN FOCUS was honored to direct the live visuals for the song "Ame no Hi no Parade" included in the release! It’s been quite some time since I started working in branding and design, but the moment I first became aware of “design” itself was when I saw the vivid blue visuals of Mr.Children's Atomic Heart album, along with the eye graphic on the back cover—likely inspired by the structure of an atom. Later, I discovered Andy Warhol through the visuals of "Shinkai" , learned about classical music’s Boléro through their album BOLERO, which then led me to the concept of eternal recurrence, to Nietzsche, and eventually to a deep interest in philosophy. Even my initial fascination with psychology stemmed from looking up the meaning of “es,” which led me to Sigmund Freud. In many ways, Mr.Children became the starting point for how I see the world, influencing many foundational aspects of who I am. This project began when I was approached by Mr. Inagaki from KITE inc. Our connection actually started from a tweet I posted about Mitsuo Shindo, the art director who worked with Mr.Children. Being able to take part in the creative work for the artist who has had the greatest influence on my life fills me with gratitude. .
