There are two designs: "University of Tokyo Akamon" and "University of Tokyo Yasuda Auditorium." These magnets are available exclusively at three University of Tokyo Co-op locations. ◾️ University of Tokyo Akamon The University of Tokyo is home to a pond commonly known as Sanshiro Pond, which is also known as the setting for Natsume Soseki's novel "Sanshiro." I imagined the thoughts of Soseki, who once attended this university and later became a teacher, as he wrote the story, and created this illustration of the protagonist, Sanshiro, and the heroine, Mineko, standing in front of the Akamon. ◾️ University of Tokyo Yasuda Auditorium The University of Tokyo campus is open to the public, and visitors can enjoy the leisurely scenery of its quaint school buildings and rows of ginkgo trees. During my visit, I even spotted people taking their dogs for a morning walk. The illustration features cherry blossoms against the view from the hotel guest rooms, and is made using upcycled Nishijima Washi paper, which features the cherry blossoms that decorated the hotel last spring. Santa's footprints can be seen in the snow. After much trial and error, I used a technique called rough printing to create a fantastical use of color.
