Whenever you try to grow vegetables or rice, experienced farmers always say: “You can’t do it without machines.” “You need fertilizer.” “You have to use pesticides.” But I don’t believe that. For most of human history, people have grown crops without machines, fertilizers, or pesticides. Through this challenge, I hope to inspire those who want to try rice farming but feel discouraged by the costs. If this can be a small push for someone to take that first step, it will be worth it. These are the wisdom passed down by our ancestors. It sounds like a myth, yet it could be true. For the past five years, I haven’t been bedridden even once. I’ve traveled all over Japan, endured sleepless nights, extreme heat, and freezing cold. If you’re curious about the effects, I encourage you to look into them. According to the movement of the stars, the celestial alignment is similar to when Japan transitioned from the Edo period to the Meiji Restoration. Looking back, what we consider our everyday lives might actually be moments that will one day be written in history books. April is known as Uzuki, the month of sowing seeds. It is also called Uetsuki (Planting Month) or Utsuki (Seeding Month). The seeds we sow— Will they bear great fruit? Or become a burden for future generations? No one knows the outcome. Interestingly, “nanohana” is not the name of a single plant but a general term, much like how we refer to weeds. The actual plants behind these flowers have different names—cabbage, kale, Chinese cabbage, takana, and more. Among the many varieties, I believe the nanohana of Chinese cabbage is the most delicious. Even if things look the same, subtle differences set them apart. I strive every day to become someone who stands out in the same way.2025/03/25に公開- 指定なし1.74%802・ 神の米 ・ 伊勢ヒカリ 平成元年、三重県を襲った大型の台風が伊勢神宮、御神田の稲を丸ごとなぎ倒した。 そんな中、奇跡的に二株だけ生き残っていた。 台風の中生き残った稲を調べてみると、コシヒカリの突然変異種であり、風や病気に非常に強い品種であることがわかる。 コシヒカリが元で、伊勢で生まれたこのお米は「伊勢ヒカリ」と名付けられた。 病気にも風にも負けない強さは、きっと日本の食糧難を救うと言われている。 昨年、これまた偶然過ぎる出会いで、伊勢ヒカリを育てているご夫婦に出会う。 そして、今年はこのご夫婦のご指導のもと私もお米作りに向き合う。 今まででずっと誰かにお世話になりっぱなしでした。 まずは、自立。 それからはいただいできたものを、誰かの為に、未来の為に繋げていく。 どんな風吹かれても、大地が揺さぶられても、病にさらされても、倒れるわけにはいかない。何年もつないできた命を繋ぐ為に。 ・ The Rice of the Gods ・ Ise Hikari In the first year of the Heisei era, a powerful typhoon struck Mie Prefecture, completely flattening the sacred rice fields of Ise Jingu. Yet, amidst the devastation, two stalks miraculously survived. Upon examination, it was discovered that these resilient stalks were a spontaneous mutation of Koshihikari—an exceptionally strong variety resistant to wind and disease. Born in Ise from Koshihikari, this rice was named “Ise Hikari.” Its strength against disease and natural forces has led many to believe it could one day help combat food shortages in Japan. Last year, through a series of unbelievable coincidences, I met a couple who cultivate Ise Hikari. And this year, under their guidance, I am taking my first steps into rice farming myself. All my life, I have been supported by others. Now, my first step is self-reliance. From there, I will take what I have received and pass it on—to others, to the future. No matter how strong the winds blow, how much the earth shakes, or how illness threatens, I cannot allow myself to fall. Because I carry the responsibility of continuing a life that has been passed down through generations.2025/03/24に公開- 指定なし1.31%620・ 場が人を呼び、人が場を創る ・ 先日、宮古島で森万里子さん主宰のお茶事に撮影担当という立場で同席させていただきました。 お茶事が行われた場所は、「YUPUTIRA（ユプティラ）」。 白を基調とした、様々な光がある空間で、美しくしさとあたたかさを感じる聖域のような場所。 偶然のご縁と巡りあわせをいただき、 目の前に広がる綺麗な世界を只々、夢中で撮影していました。 撮影しながら、茶人でもない私が何故ここにいるんだろう？ と不思議な気持ちと感謝が溢れる時間でした。 森万里子さんが、何年もかけて計画をし、それを職人さんが何年もかけて創り上げた場所。 一つ一つ丁寧に選ばれた道具の数々。 お抹茶。お召しのお着物。お集まりのお客様。そして、宮古島の伝統、自然。 果てしない時をかけてつくられたものたち、全てが集まってあの日があったと思うと本当に尊い。 点が繋がって線になる。 線は巡ってご縁になる。 大きな巡りの渦のような中で、自分たちは生かされていると思わずにはいられない。 森万里子さん、森星さん、撮影させていただきありがとうございました。 お着物 : @miku___asano さん ・ A Place Calls People, and People Create a Place ・ The other day, I had the honor of attending a tea gathering hosted by Mariko Mori in Miyako Island, serving as the photographer. The gathering took place at “YUPUTIRA”—a sanctuary-like space centered around white, filled with various forms of light, radiating both beauty and warmth. By a stroke of fate and serendipitous encounters, I found myself immersed in capturing the breathtaking world unfolding before me. As I took photos, I couldn’t help but wonder—why am I here, when I am not even a tea master? That thought, combined with a deep sense of gratitude, made the moment all the more profound. This place was a vision that Mariko Mori spent years planning, and skilled artisans dedicated years to bringing to life. Every tool was carefully selected. The matcha, the kimono, the guests gathered, the traditions and nature of Miyako Island— Everything that came together that day had been shaped over an endless stretch of time. Dots connect to form lines. Lines weave into bonds. We are all living within a vast, swirling current of connections—something I could not help but feel. With cooperation from: Watarai Honten Co., Ltd.2025/03/22に公開渡會本店 日本 山形県1.57%740てすと2025/03/10に公開- 指定なし0.25%120・ 建国記念日 ・ 日本という国がある。 間違いない事実で、誰もがわかっている。 国を作った人がいる。 誰かのおかげで、今現在人が住んでいる環境がある。沢山の繋がり、喜び、楽しみ、恵み、頑張り、悲しみ、全てが積み重なって。 しかし、それを心から意識して生きている人は少ない。 自分は全く意識してこなかったし、出来なかった。今までは自分の目標と欲に向かってひたすらに歩んでいるだけだった。何故こんな単純な事を意識せず生きていられたんだろう。 昨年、イギリスに行った際に、ちょうど現在の天皇陛下さまが、いらっしゃっていて街に日本国旗が掲げられていた。 そして、滞在中に紳士的に対応してくださるイギリス紳士の方々と街ですれ違った。 出会った方が、とても紳士な方だった、という事もあるとは思うが、過去日本人のご先祖さまの行いが良かったから、良くしてくださったに違いない。 天皇陛下、とても遠い存在に感じるけれども、私達は繋がっている。あの方々の行いは、今の日本国民に恩恵を与えているし、影響がある。 こんな世の中になってしまった今、ずっと天皇陛下の祈りだけにに頼って生きているわけにはいかない。 きっと、令和という時代からは、国民一人一人が国を創るという意識が芽生えた時代になるんだろうと感じている。 今の今まで、先祖代々日本を見守り、向き合ってくださってありがとうございます。 日本各地で、名前のない村のような集まりがうまれ、志を共にした人たちで協力して世界を積み上げていく事になる。 そんな歴史的瞬間に私達は生きている。2025/02/12に公開- 指定なし2.6%1212・ 干支 ・ 辰年だった、2024年。 占星術の世界では自然災害、特に地震と雷に注意と言われていた。 その反面いい事としては、氣が天まで昇るほどに満ちて、勢いよく成功に近づいたり、出世したりするともいう。 どちらにせよ、龍さんのお力で世界は揺れ大きな変化に気がつく一年だった。 そして、今年に入って思った。 昨年の干支である龍さんにお礼、お疲れ様でした。という挨拶をしていない事に。 遅くなりましたが、今までしてこなかった、干支への感謝の氣持ちをこめて。 2024年、ありがとうございました。 11年間ゆっくりお休みください。2025/02/11に公開- 指定なし1.52%693・ 和紙 ・ 自分のここ数年聞いてきた話を、まとめると下記の二つが和紙なのだという考えに至る。 一つは、日本で育った植物を使って作られているものを和紙という。 世の中に出回っている和紙の大半は海外産の植物で作られている。 和紙ではなく、和紙風用紙になっていて、日本の物のようで、そうではない。 もう一つは、和紙は私であるという事。 和紙→わし→私という言葉の繋がり。 紙は神であり、神は自分自身。 昔は和紙が大変貴重な物だった。 植物を収穫、茹で、繊維を取り出して、他の植物と混ぜて、すいて、乾かして、形を整えて、、、 それはそれは手作業では時間のかかる作業で、命を削って作られていた。 紙は命そのもの。 だから自分であり、私の事を表す。 和紙が作れる環境は本当に大切な場所。 水が綺麗で緑豊か。 和紙を大切にする事。 美しい水と恵に感謝し、山、川、海、全ての豊かさを大切にする。 最終的には自分自身を大切にすることに繋がると、私は思う。 Washi After listening to various stories over the past few years, I have come to the conclusion that washi (traditional Japanese paper) can be defined by two key ideas. The first is that washi is made from plants grown in Japan. Most of the so-called washi available today is actually made from plants grown overseas. These papers may look like washi, but they are merely washi-style paper—not the real thing. The second is the idea that washi is a reflection of myself. The Japanese word “washi” (和紙) can be phonetically linked to “washi” (私), which means “I” or “myself.” Paper (紙, kami) is also closely connected to “kami” (神), meaning “god,” which in turn represents one’s own spirit. In the past, washi was an extremely precious material. The process of making it involved harvesting plants, boiling them, extracting fibers, mixing them with other plants, forming the sheets, drying them, and shaping them—all by hand. This was an arduous, time-consuming craft, one that required the maker to pour their very life into it. Paper is life itself. That is why it represents oneself—it is an extension of who we are. The environment in which washi can be made is a truly sacred place. It requires clean water and lush greenery. To cherish washi is to appreciate beautiful water and the blessings of nature. It is to value the richness of the mountains, rivers, and seas. Ultimately, I believe that treasuring washi leads to treasuring oneself.2025/02/11に公開- 指定なし1.74%802・ 松 ・ 松を食すと100歳超えはあたりまえ、最終的には160年生きると、文献に書き記されている。 松はただの観葉植物ではない。 体を強く、肌を美しくし、脳を目覚めさせる。 松竹梅、という言葉があるが、これは体に良いものを表している。 調べれば、たくさん出てくるので、 ご興味のある方は調べてみてください。 ここ数年、松の事が好きになった。 光が当たる土地を選んで生えてくる姿は、 独特のフォルムで力強く、個性がある。 松は大正までは、一般に食されていた。 兄と、色んな松を見つけては食しているが、その土地土地で、味が違う。 酸味、苦味、甘味、香り、複雑で面白い。 写真の松は樹齢300年の松 @sobadokoro_matsu さんの赤松。 Pine According to historical records, eating pine can make living beyond 100 years common, with some claims suggesting a lifespan of up to 160 years. Pine is not just an ornamental plant. It strengthens the body, beautifies the skin, and awakens the mind. The phrase “Shōchikubai” (松竹梅)—which refers to pine, bamboo, and plum—actually represents things beneficial to health. If you look into it, you’ll find plenty of information, so if you’re interested, I encourage you to research it. In the past few years, I’ve grown fond of pines. They choose sunlit places to grow, standing tall with a unique, powerful form. Until the Taishō era, pine was commonly consumed in Japan. My brother and I have been foraging and tasting different pines, and the flavor varies depending on the location. Some are sour, some bitter, some sweet—each with a complex and fascinating aroma. Snow is dazzling. Snow is fun. Snow is frightening. Snow is fleeting. From now on, Snow is a blessing. I feel gratitude for the water that flows year-round, and for the gifts of spring, summer, and autumn that snow eventually brings. This is how I want to see it these days. It’s cold, isn’t it? Everyone, please stay warm and take care of yourselves. Lately, I’ve been using a simple trick to stay warm—placing two heat packs on my back, one on each shoulder blade. (Stick them on top of your clothes to avoid low-temperature burns!) It really warms me up, and I feel like my body becomes more flexible.2025/02/08に公開- 指定なし2.2%977・ 如月 ・ 旧暦二月のことを、如月（きさらぎ）という。 春間近というところに寒さが更にやってくる。 その寒さから、衣を更に重ね着するということ「衣更着（きさらぎ）」、が由来しているという説がひとつ。 春が近づき草や木が更に生えるということから、「生更木（きさらぎ）」ともいう。 草や木の芽が張り出してくるので、「草木張月（くさきはりづき）」 がかわっていったという説もある。 日本語は奥深く、面白い。 ひとつの言葉で、様々な情景が浮かぶ。 この三つの説を見比べても、全て植物に関係している。 植物達が敏感に季節の変化を感じながら生きているということなのだろう。 まだまだ寒い日は続きそうだが、春のあたたかな風や光、花々や虫さんたちに今年も出会えるのが楽しみだ。2025/02/06に公開- 指定なし2.44%1105・ 塩に氣が宿る ・ 魂を込めて作ったものは何か力がある。 塩の事を調べていくと、法律をかえられ、ミネラル成分の無いお塩が日本で販売された時期がある。 今では、ミネラルたっぷりの自然なお塩が、栄養もあって美味しく、産地によって味の個性や旨みがあるのは当たり前のこと。 なぜ、そんな法律ができたのか？ 塩という海の恵を独占しようとした人がいたんだと思ってしまう。 今回お邪魔させていただいたのは、ミネラル工房さん。 @shioya_togashi 海水100%はもちろん、建築廃材を薪として活用し資源の無駄がない薪火で炊き上げ、丁寧につくる。 中には、神社仏閣の木材も来るらしく、その度にここでお役目は終わりました。おかげで次の形になって色んな人にとどけられて感謝です。と想いを込める。 良い塩を作り、美味しさと健康を届けなくてはいけないという信念に目覚め塩作りを始めたというミネラル工房さん。 生き物は母なる海から生まれた。 海に触れ、本物のお塩を日々いただく事が、本来の自分に戻るきっかけになるかもしれない。 突然にも関わらずご対応いただきありがとうございました。 ・ The Spirit Resides in Salt ・ There is a certain power in things made with soul and intention. While researching salt, I learned that there was a time in Japan when laws were changed, allowing only salt stripped of its mineral content to be sold. Today, it’s only natural that mineral-rich, unrefined salt is recognized for both its nutritional value and its unique taste, varying in flavor and umami depending on its origin. Why was such a law created? It makes me wonder—was there someone trying to monopolize the blessings of the sea? This time, I had the opportunity to visit Mineral Kobo (@shioya_togashi). Their salt is made with 100% seawater, carefully crafted using wood-fired methods that leave no resource wasted—repurposing construction waste as firewood. Some of the wood even comes from shrines and temples. When that happens, they express gratitude, saying: “This wood has fulfilled its role here. Now, it takes on a new form, reaching many people. We are thankful.” Driven by the realization that they must create good salt—not just for its flavor but for health itself—Mineral Kobo was born. All life originates from the great mother, the sea. Touching the ocean and incorporating real, natural salt into our daily lives might just help us reconnect with our true selves. A heartfelt thank you for your warm welcome, despite our sudden visit.2025/02/04に公開越後村上《 ミネラル工房 》日本海の塩≪白いダイヤ≫ 日本 新潟県2.12%964. 何を纏ってきたのか . 立春。 節分が過ぎ2025年の大きな流れが本格的に始まる。 巳年は今までやってきたことが表に出るという年。 善行も悪行も全て明るみにでる。 それは自分の中でも起こるはず。 本当に自分がやりたかったこと、才能、人間性、積み重ね、心。 力を抜いて、流れに身をまかせ、何が表に出てきても受け止めていこう。 生まれてから、沢山社会との関わりの中で、生きる為、守る為、安心する為、色んなものを纏って現代社会の中で自分たちは生きてきた。 仮面や、見せかけだけのものは脱ぎ捨てて、自分の本質に繋がっていく。 2020年からの激動の中で、世界中は色んな思考や考えや想いが巡った。だから、自分が纏っていたもの、背負っていたものに氣がついた人は沢山いたはず。 自分は自然と古代に向き合っていくのが役目なんだろう。 古代というと、古いというイメージがあるけど、きっとハイテクにしなくても、全てが満たされていたから、長い歴史の中で変わらなかったんだと思う。 今までを振り返り、これからを想像し、纏っていたものを脱ぎすて進んだ先に成長がある。 2025年が皆様の人生にとって、良い一年になりますように。 立春大吉 model : @hikari photo : @takahiro_iianbai . The Year of the Snake is said to be a time when everything you’ve done so far comes to the surface—both good deeds and misdeeds alike. This revelation will likely happen within yourself as well. Your true desires, talents, character, accumulated efforts, and heart—everything will come to light. Relax, surrender to the flow, and embrace whatever emerges. Since birth, we’ve adorned ourselves with countless layers to survive, to protect, to feel secure in society. But now, it’s time to shed the masks and superficialities and reconnect with our essence. The turbulence since 2020 has set countless thoughts, ideas, and emotions in motion across the world. Many have come to realize what they have been carrying, what they have been wrapped in. For me, I feel a natural calling to face the ancient past. When we think of antiquity, we often associate it with something old, but perhaps it remained unchanged throughout history because it was already complete—without the need for high-tech advancements. By reflecting on the past and envisioning the future, we can shed what we’ve been wearing and step forward into growth. May 2025 be a wonderful year for you all.
