家の中には古い家具と古い道具がゆったりと置かれていて、建具もすべて古いもので設えています。といっても、暮らしに溶け込むように。そして木枠の大きな窓からは庭の先に森が見えます。 当初、今回の企画では古家具、古道具だけでなく、古い家での暮らしも入れようと思っていました。仁平さんご夫婦が見つけた家は、森と接しています。古いものと自然はつながります。天然素材の家具や道具は、時を経て時を纏います。古いものは「経年変化」という言葉より「時を纏う」という方がしっくりくるようです。 @nihei_mashiko @nihei_mooka @pejite_mashiko Kobayashi, who is originally from Kyoto and had lived in Spain and Germany, decided to settle in a small town of Nakagawa-cho in Northern Hokkaido. She wanted to engage in farming and basket-making, because she had an impression that farmers make baskets as handicrafts during the winter, when farming is off season. The materials she uses are white birch, walnut and bent bamboo. The demand for such baskets once hit low and the craftwork declined. Ms. Kobayashi hopes to pass on traditional crafts and the desire drives her to do everything from getting materials from the mountains herself. After 4 years of searching by foot, he found the house. Not knowing who owned it, he posted a letter and got in contact with the owner. It turned out later that it was the owner’s parents’ house and he had taken care of it dearly. The restaurant, “Michisugara,” or “on the way” in Japanese, is located in Mishima, Shizuoka prefecture. The guests can enjoy Italian meals combined with Japanese essence. The influence is also found in the space and the service, for example, in flowers on the tables and politeness of greetings. “Michisugara” is there for you to enjoy heartful moments. The sea was heard but not seen, with bamboo trees all over. He started from scratch to produce his salt “mataichinoshio.”(@mataichinoshio ) Not only does he pursue the salt that makes meals delicious and people happy, but he cares about the community and the environment. From mowing along the roadsides in the community, to taking an inefficient method of salt productuon to avoid microplastics, and trying to cultivate sea urchin to help maintain the good ecosystem, he regards all these as part of his life, and passes on the idea to his workers. It’s more than 20 years since his start, and he is looking ahead for another 20 years to further explore ths salt to bring happiness from his place in Itoshima.
