Space oil drug gained widespread popularity over the past year and quickly became the 3rd most common type of drug abuse among young drug users under 21. The surge in space oil drug use has raised significant concerns regarding its negative impacts on physical and mental health, prompting its classification under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. With the new law now in effect, be aware that space oil drug are categorised as an illicit drug, the same as cannabis, cocaine and heroin. Statistics from the Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong reported that there were 1,092 suicides reported in 2023, of which 159 suicides were youth between the age of 10 - 29 - a record high since 2016, and reveals the worrying fact that on average, three young person died of suicide every week. They also recorded suicide rate of 16.09 for youth between the age of 20 - 29, which was higher than the overall suicide rate of all age range (14.55). These figures speaks for themselves - as a friend, as a peer, as an adult, we have the responsibility to stand by these young people, care for them, and safeguard their growth and interests, In the third year of #OneIsTooMany, we wish to emphasise the role of Trusted Adults in youth suicide prevention. Our theme, 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗦𝗧, represent the five things that we should have in place to support youth: Time, Resilience, Understanding, System, and Team.
