To tie and arrange it properly in daily life or at ceremonies was considered an important form of etiquette. That’s why Kepatsu was never just a hairstyle— it was a reflection of refinement, adulthood, and social standing. A graceful act that carried deep cultural meaning☝︎ For people in those times, to arrange one’s hair was to arrange one’s heart— a way to express respect and inner harmony. Kepatsu embodied not only outer beauty, but also the spirit and way of life within🪷 With bin-tsuke abura (camellia pomade), a tsuge-gushi (boxwood comb), and paper threads to tie the hair, the look was completed with elegant combs and hairpins. Within this single art of Kepatsu, you can feel the soul of Japan—its tools, its craft, its heart. We harvested everything by hand — no machines, no chemicals — just pure natural farming. 🙊 It’s amazing that our very first try at rice farming, done completely naturally, turned out this abundant! I truly felt that we don’t need pesticides at all.◎ Because we didn’t use chemicals, so many creatures came to life around us — this is what real nature looks like. It reminded me of how our ancestors once lived in harmony with the land and all living beings. 🇯🇵 When we use chemicals, the insects go crazy… just like how people lose balance when they rely too much on “medicine.” 💊 　 Every insect and animal exists for a reason — each has its own role in the balance of nature. 🌏 Let’s bring things back to natural human hands again! So grateful and happy for such a rich harvest. 江ノ島🌴 　　　友達の海の家へ遊びに！　お仕事上さすがに日焼けを気にするようになって日焼け止め消費はげしい🌞笑　市販の日焼け止めは海や生き物に優しくないものが多いから、わたしはネットで買ってる◎ 　他にも柔軟剤の必要性や洗剤など、日々使う消耗品が自分の身体や地球に害がないものか意識して過ごしてみて🌏 　　無意識でも人間が積み重ねてしまった良くないものはこの夏おかしいくらい暑いように巡り巡ってわたしたちを苦しめるだけだからね🫨 日本人は特に疎く、意識も低いように感じてます　みんなの少しの意識が大きな変化をもたらす！今後のためにも自然と地球を守りましょ🧚🏼‍♂️ 　　 Enoshima🌴 Visited my friend’s beach house! Because of work, I really have to be careful about sunburn these days — going through sunscreen like crazy🌞 But most store-bought sunscreens aren’t friendly to the ocean or marine life, so I usually order eco-friendly ones online ◎ It’s the same with things like fabric softeners or detergents — I try to stay mindful about whether the daily items I use are safe for both my body and the Earth 🌏 Even the harmful things humans have piled up unconsciously will only come back to hurt us… just like how this summer feels strangely, abnormally hot 🫨 I feel that here in Japan, awareness around these issues is still a bit limited.
