🇬🇧Suikeien Garden is a landscaped strolling garden located just behind the famous Taishakuten Temple in Shibamata. The garden features a wooden pathway that takes you past a number of halls used for ceremonial purposes then around the perimeter of the garden, past a teahouse, allowing the outdoor space to be viewed from all angles. The subtle changes in Tokyo’s climate are apparent throughout the year at Suikeien Garden as the landscape features a number of trees and flora that reflect the changing seasons. Entry to the garden is just 400 yen. 🇫🇷Le Suikei-en est un magnifique jardin paysager, niché derrière le célèbre temple Taishakuten de Shibamata. On le parcourt en empruntant une passerelle en bois surélevée qui longe plusieurs espaces de cérémonie et offre de superbes vues sur l’ensemble du site. 🇬🇧Meet Kono-san, a craftsman in Katsushika making shamisen, a type of traditional Japanese instrument with three strings, for 35 years now. He makes both professional grade shamisen for pro players as well as smaller, simpler versions.When Kono-san first started making shamisen, there were 500+ such craftsmen across the country, now there are less than 200. Sadly, the number of young craftsmen in this field is slowly disappearing but for now the art continues to live strong in East Tokyo! 🇫🇷Voici Kono-san, artisan à Katsushika, qui fabrique depuis 35 ans des shamisen, un instrument traditionnel japonais à trois cordes. Il réalise aussi bien des modèles pour musiciens confirmés que des versions plus petites et plus simples. Lorsqu’il a commencé, on comptait plus de 500 artisans comme lui au Japon. Aujourd’hui, ils sont moins de 200. 【💐葛飾菖蒲まつり開催中💐】水元公園は都内最大級の花菖蒲の名所として知られています🌱 約100種14000株の花菖蒲が見頃を迎え、色とりどりの花々が花菖蒲田を彩ります。水元公園は、浅草・上野・東京スカイツリーから約50分のアクセスです🚃 6/7と6/8には歌謡ステージや和太鼓、フラダンスなどのパフォーマンスが行われます🌺 さらに、6/6～6/8、6/10、6/11、6/13～6/15にはお茶処で花菖蒲を眺めながら、おいしいお茶とお菓子を楽しむことができます🍵🍡 Mizumoto Park is known as one of Tokyo's largest iris viewing spots. On June 7th and 8th, there will be a singing stage, Japanese drumming, hula dancing, and other performances. 🇬🇧Hashigo-nori is an event held annually in Katsushika where you can witness amazing acrobatic feats on long bamboo ladders at various locations. 🇬🇧Follow us through the streets of Shibamata as locals perform Matoi - a practice which originated in the early Edo period by firefighters as a way to draw attention to the fact a fire was burning in the neighbourhood. These days it’s considered a performance that brings prosperity to the local community. 🇫🇷Suivez-nous dans les rues de Shibamata pendant que les habitants exécutent le Matoi - une pratique apparue au début de la période Edo par les pompiers pour attirer l'attention sur le fait qu'un incendie brûlait dans le quartier. 🇬🇧Yada-san is a third generation ‘Edo katagami’ craftsman based in Katsushika-ku. His intricate hand crafted stencils are used to apply patterns across a number of traditional Japanese items including hanging ‘noren’ curtains, tenugui and even kimono.　 🇫🇷Yada-san est un artisan de troisième génération spécialisé dans le « Edo katagami », basé dans l’arrondissement de Katsushika. Ses pochoirs minutieusement faits à la main sont utilisés pour appliquer des motifs sur divers objets traditionnels japonais, tels que les rideaux « noren », les tenugui et même les kimonos. 🇯🇵今回は三代続く江戸型彫師、矢田幸蔵さんを取材させていただきました。私たちは普段着物や浴衣を目にすることはあっても、型紙を見る機会はありませんよね？型紙は浴衣や着物を染めるために使われるものです。型彫師さんとは縁の下の力持ちのような存在ですね✨そしてその手しごとは繊細でそれ自体がまるでアートのようです！今はその技術を未来へ継承するために、現代のライフスタイルに合わせて洋服やカバンなども手掛けているそうです。 Photos by @benjaminbeech and @mission_japan

🇬🇧Every year in June we hold the Shoubu Matsuri here in Katsushika. Locals line the streets to enjoy watching various groups perform a range of traditional and contemporary dances and music performances including Taiko, Eisa and Awa-odori!
