(日本語は下に) On August 1st, I’ll be performing at the opening ceremony of the Hiroshima Festival @hiroshimafest_official as the first recipient of the Hiroshima Award (music division, international category). When I received it in 2021, I couldn't be at the festival because it was still COVID time (well, it still is but). I'm so grateful for this opportunity to perform the Hiroshima Peace Song in the English version that I translated and arranged with @songs4worldpeace, as well as my composition, "Dareka no Me de (Through Their Eyes)”. The Hiroshima Peace Song, written in 1947, just two years after World War II, is a historic and significant piece. Despite the hardships, grief, and lingering hatred of the time, the lyrics' strong hope and commitment to peace are truly moving. This song is so dear to me and always hoped the best for this song😊 You may know this song as “Anata wo” - I originally composed it in Japanese and later @alanjonescliffendrecords made this beautiful English version🙏 The featuring singer is @dinarizvicmusic - her voice is so emotional yet delicate that expresses the emotion of this song so perfectly and through her singing and playing, I know my song was understood and felt a deep sense of acceptance🌱 My strings arrangement was performed by Croatian Ensemble and conducted by a masterful Croatian conductor, Alan Bjelinski. (日本語はコメントに) This year marked the 10th anniversary of my global project band, @skybridgemusic carrying the slogan ‘We look different, we ALL smile the same.’ In the latter half of the year, I reflected on my way of living, especially through music. The beauty of music lies in connecting hearts across diverse backgrounds. Using music to bring people together is what I aspire to do in the future. However, I’ve also faced the dilemma that my personal perspectives and desires may limit the charm of music’s ‘universality.’ Over the past decade, collaborating with musicians worldwide, I’ve realized these with exposure to various perspectives: - there is no such thing as ‘normal’ or ‘common sense.’ Different opinions don’t necessarily lead to conflict. - What we think we ‘know’ from the news or believe to be ‘truth’ from family and friends can be one-dimensional compared to personal experiences. - Regardless of the country, every parent wishes for a bright future for their children. As we celebrate Christmas and the end of the year, let’s remember that not everyone worldwide can celebrate this time of the year because of the challenges they face. Inspired by the lyrics in the second verse of the song, ‘You think the only people who are people are the people who look and think like you, but if you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you learn things you never knew’ I decided to share this song.
