I saw a sculpture called Tower of the sun by Taro Okamoto when I was designing the collection. I was overwhelmed by its size and unevenness. I wanted to design a face with uneven texture in knit, but it was so hard. So I mixed with a reference of Mattise drawing of a face and Taro’s uneven lips in knit. Artisans knit each piece by hand on domestic machines, so every facial expression could be slightly different of the products. The main yarn is made by Washi which is Japanese paper. You can wash it. Extremely long length. I think this is one of the garments which expresses the idea of the season concept, ‘Ridiculously Serious’. The silhouette is based on poncho, but it’s got small and narrow sleeves. There is a slit under the sleeve so you can wear it as a coat and poncho. So I named it Concho. You can also make the sleeve inside out to make it look like poncho. It’s knitted with a circular pattern, and the hem is parallel to the ground because of that technique. You can make your own drape with a cord on your neck. The top on that side’s got a cord on a hem. It looks like you wear with tuck in when you lace the cord. A guy form yarn company said to me “you like this kinda yarn don’t you?” and I liked it. It’s a slightly see through texture, and very light . Artisan knit on domestic machines. The yarns is called Gima Cotton, and it doesn’t go well with water, so please do not wash by yourself but treat with a dry cleaning please. The yarn could dissolve in water if you wash it, and it could be just a normal see through jumper. Senping in Lace Aran Cardigan and Shorts Photo : @naoya.matsumoto708 Styling : @smznmi Hair&Makeup : @nori_kose Model : @sun._.___ Special Thanks to @moteslim @likekewpie @nythmbnail @fjt.tokyo @oxt_oxt2022/02/24に公開- 指定なし1.18%1942SS22 ‘Ridiculously Serious’ リサーチ期間中にChristopher Nolan監督のTENETやInterstellarを見ました。とっても面白かったのですが、難しすぎて理解できない部分が沢山あったので本やYouTubeの解説を色々見て、再度映画を見ました。また昔に買ったけど読んでいなかったイギリスの物理学者のスティーブンホーキングのビッグ・クエスチョンという本を読みました。映画をより深く理解したいがためにそういったリサーチをしていると、どの本、動画にもアインシュタインの名前が度々登場し、彼の偉大さを強く感じました。Christpher Nolanもアインシュタインも言葉は悪いですがばかばかしい程まじめに本気で映画作りや研究に没頭していた方だと思い、その態度に最大のリスペクトと愛を込めてニットTを作りました。 I watched Christopher Nolan’s TENET and Interstellar when I was researching for the collection. I also read a book called Brief Answers to the Big Questions by Stephen Hawking. They were terribly difficult to understand, so I saw other books and saw YouTube videos about them. I happened to read and hear Einstein so many times, and realised how he was a huge impact. I thought both of Christopher Nolan and Einstein were absorbed in their work, so I designed the Knitted T-shirt with a respect for their attitude.
