Mr. Ishikura’s rhubarb from Shinjo Village has arrived again this year! He mentioned that because of the lack of rain this year, the stalks are a bit shorter than last year. But honestly, you wouldn’t even notice—they are absolutely gorgeous, robust, and a vibrant bright red! While Nobu immediately turned them into a compote, I baked a delicious cake pairing them with Kogyoku apples. We’re planning to feature this rhubarb in all kinds of desserts, so stay tuned! It was a perfectly clear day, and the contrast between the blue sky and the fresh green leaves was absolutely beautiful. Best of all, the view of Mt. Daisen from the cafe was stunning, and we had a wonderful, relaxing time soaking it all in. They also have a dog run, which our dog absolutely loved—happily running around all day! 🐕 By the way, the view of the surrounding mountains from the dog run is also breathtaking. If you're planning a drive around Mt. In response to recent inquiries and feedback, I would like to take a moment to share the philosophy behind our current pricing for lunch and dinner. Since our opening, my mission has been to offer unpretentious French cuisine using the finest local ingredients. I wanted as many people as possible to experience these flavors, which led us to keep our prices as low as possible, often near cost. However, due to the persistent rise in ingredient costs and utility expenses, maintaining those original prices has become increasingly difficult. After much soul-searching, we have undergone two price adjustments to reach our current menu rates. While we cannot compete with large restaurant chains on price, we take immense pride in our craft. Everything—from our stocks and sauces to our homemade ice cream—is prepared by hand without the use of artificial seasonings or additives. Our dishes may not always be designed for "social media trends," but they are crafted with the utmost care to preserve the beauty of traditional handiwork. Furthermore, the proceeds from our bistro are not only for personal livelihood but are also dedicated to local regional revitalization—one of the primary reasons we relocated to this community. To maintain the quality of our cuisine and the integrity of our ingredients is my promise to you as a chef. I refuse to compromise on the standards that you, our valued guests, have come to expect. One of them is the Citrus and Earl Grey Nage (pictured). In French, "nage" means "swimming." This dish features fresh citrus fruits "swimming" in a specially crafted Earl Grey-infused syrup, topped with homemade pastis sorbet for a crisp, clean finish. Depending on the season, we also prepare this with peaches or blueberries. It is truly a refreshing treat. Current Reservation Status (until the end of the month) Lunch Time (Availability below): • May 14 & 23: One table available for 2 guests. • May 21, 28, & 29: Plenty of seating available.
