【Holiday cookie cereals - 5 photos.🎅☃️🎁🌲】 If you've been following along my IG stories of late, you'll know that I've been busy making holiday cookie boxes…so much so that I forgot there are only six days left until Christmas!😱 Not sure about you, but I've never been good at prepping for any sort of holidays (which is odd, as I'm a fairly organised person otherwise).😅 It's usually a last-minute sort of mad dash to get everything ready…perhaps deep down I enjoy the thrill of it?🤣 After an extended break from taking on more complicated bakes (to give my poor neck, shoulders and back a much needed rest), it's been really nice getting back into it.😀. Larger baking/cooking projects really are good cognitive training as you need to multitask, follow instructions, exercise organisational and time management skills, etc. I actually find myself more productive when I'm actively baking…but need to balance that with lots of exercises, stretches, and rests so not to get burnt out (sadly happens to a lot of talented bakers). Hope to share photos of the finished cookie boxes with you sometime this week.✌️ Hope everyone is keeping healthy and happy ~❤️ (P.S. In case this is helpful to anyone, one thing I learnt from my chiro which I find particularly helpful is to retract my neck by tucking in my chin when doing detail works such as decorating these tiny cookies. 【Polar bear-shaped macarons filled with whipped peppermint white chocolate ganache - 7 photos.】 Golly, can’t believe 2021 is almost over.😱 It’s kind of been a strange year, not only due to the pandemic, but also because it’s the year that I felt (and still feel) physically “old” for the first time in my life.😅 Recognising that I’m no longer a spring chicken (to be fair, I’m not sure if I even qualify as a summer chicken…maybe an early-autumn chicken?🤔), both the husband and I decided to adopt a healthier lifestyle which involves routine workouts and a low carb diet (which, with great emphasis, is exceedingly difficult for a dessert maker).🏃 Oh, and lots of visits to the physio, RMT & chiro. Up until last year, baking has been such an overwhelming part of my life, so it’s been odd cutting back on projects and focusing on living healthier instead. 【Otter-shaped macarons filled with passion fruit dark chocolate ganache - 9 photos.】 Visited the @vanaqua yesterday and was in otter heaven.🦦 They truly are some of the cutest and most fascinating creatures.❤️ A couple of fun otter facts (some of which I've shared in a previous post): Did you know that otter is one of the few mammals that use tools?🔨 Their preferred tool is usually a rock (to break open hard-shelled preys, such as scallops, crabs and sea urchin). Even more interesting, they keep their favourite rock handy by storing it inside their “armpit pockets” (i.e., a loose patch of skin under their armpits, something I'm quickly developing as I age).🤣 They also have this odd habit of rock juggling (Google this if you have not seen it, it's the cutest thing), which researchers think is relating to excitement for food (?).🤔 Another fun tidbit, apparently a group of resting otters is called a “raft”.
