"Nostalgia" Group Exhibition February 21 – March 15, 2026 To control Luigi meant, inevitably, holding the Player 2 controller. That controller came with a microphone and a volume slider—features whose true purpose remained a mystery. Yet, including its physical design, I always had a strong impression that "Player 2 equals Luigi." Since I didn’t own Super Mario Bros. at home, I was always the guest playing at a friend’s house, which meant I naturally ended up as Luigi. But I actually preferred that non-protagonist role. To me, his green color felt much more stylish than Mario’s red. There was even a certain "bonus" in his cautious approach—watching how Mario played first before making a move, like "crossing a stone bridge only after tapping it to be sure." Years have passed since those days. Yet, I feel I am still holding that Player 2 controller in both hands. I’ve ventured through life with the image of Luigi in mind, and I feel that’s exactly how I’ve lived. 「僕はルイージだった」 F20 (729 ×607 mm) 「ルイージ」を，コントロールするものは必然的に2コン。 2コンには何のためにあるのかわからないマイク機能とボリュームレバーが付いていた。そのプロダクトデザインを含めて、僕の中では「2コン＝ルイージ」という強い印象がある。 自分の家にスーパーマリオはなく、友人の家で遊ばせてもらう立場だったから、必然的にルイージを操作することが多かった。 けれど、主役ではないその立ち位置がむしろ好きだったし、その緑色もマリオよりずっとオシャレに思えた。 マリオの出かたを見てから石橋を渡るようなズルさも何だかお得。 あの日から随分経つ。そして未だに両手に握っているものは2コンなんだと思う。ルイージのイメージで冒険してきたし、生きてきた気がする。 ◆◆◆◆ @haradaakio 動物のカタチを借りてヒトの心情を描く画家 A painter who expresses human emotions through animal forms. #Painter #ArtSales #AtlantaGallery #Art #Painting
